WASH Facilitator

Job Summary

The WASH Facilitator directs the localized grant management, technical design, and community delivery of emergency hygiene and sanitation frameworks at the assigned transit hub. Core daily responsibilities include preparing annual project work plans aligned with established log frames; managing field allocations within target timelines and budgets; running ongoing community needs assessments; designing culturally sensitive hygiene manuals and promotional training tools; executing behavior change interventions in compliance with Ministry of Health (MoH) and UNHCR guidelines; leading project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) reporting; and incorporating cross-cutting social themes like gender equality, child protection, disability access, and peacebuilding.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

• Academic Preparation: A completed Bachelor’s degree in Sanitation/Hygiene-related fields, including Public Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Humanitarian Affairs, or relevant Social Sciences.Note: Academic credentials earned from institutions outside of Rwanda must be accompanied by an official equivalence certificate issued by the Rwanda Higher Education Council (HEC).
• Field Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of direct, professional experience implementing technical sanitation and hygiene promotion projects, with a strong preference for work executed within active emergency zones, transit hubs, or refugee camps.
• Behavioral Transformation Fluency: Proven success designing and implementing behavior change communication (BCC) campaigns and community-led total sanitation (CLTS) strategies within vulnerable or displaced groups.
• Grant & Project Administration: Direct experience managing field budgets, executing activities according to logical frameworks, tracking participant reach, and compiling technical project reports.
• Communication & Team Dynamics: Strong collaborative skills, with a track record of coordinating successfully with UNHCR officers, camp management teams, local authorities, and multicultural agency workers.
• Linguistic Command: Complete verbal and written fluency in English and Kinyarwanda is strictly mandatory. Professional working proficiency in French is a distinct competitive advantage.
• Technical Literacy: Proficiency with office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and cloud-based data tracking systems.
• Values & Faith Sync: Active, personal commitment to the Christian faith, including a desire to participate in daily staff devotions and a proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse Christian denominations.
