Repayment Associate

Job Summary

CHANCEN International is hiring a full-time Repayment Associate in Kigali, Rwanda. The role tracks ISA education loan repayments, conducts phone and field follow-ups with graduates and guardians, monitors Portfolio at Risk (PAR), and maintains CRM databases. Applicants require a Bachelor's or Diploma, 2-3 years of collections/finance experience, and fluency in English and Kinyarwanda. Applications close August 2, 2026.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. ISA Repayment Monitoring & Active Collection

• Daily Portfolio Tracking: Monitor daily graduate income contributions, repayment schedules, and service fee compliance to maintain healthy Portfolio at Risk (PAR) metrics.
• Proactive Follow-Ups: Contact graduates immediately following missed due dates via phone, SMS, email, and scheduled field visits.
• Financial Advising: Educate and guide employed graduates on their specific ISA contract terms, repayment structures, and financial obligations.

2. Field Engagement with Graduates, Guardians & Local Leaders

• Community Relations: Build trusted relationships with graduates, parents, and local community leaders to resolve repayment barriers and track default risks.
• Financial Literacy Workshops: Facilitate town halls, guardian meetings, and community workshops to deliver financial education and reinforce ISA commitments.
• On-Site Recovery: Conduct physical community visits across Rwanda to locate defaulting members and establish structured repayment plans.

3. Portfolio Data Analysis & CRM Reporting

• System Accuracy: Maintain accurate databases of graduate employment status, income shifts, repayment records, and collection activities within Excel and CRM platforms.
• Predictive Risk Analysis: Utilize data analytics to identify early warning signs of member default and implement preventive interventions.
• Executive Performance Reports: Compile and deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports detailing portfolio health, recovery rates, and default trends.

4. Legal Compliance, Recovery & Student Onboarding

• Policy Compliance: Conduct all collection activities in strict accordance with ethical finance guidelines and CHANCEN International's internal policies.
• Recovery Committees: Participate in recovery committees to formulate action plans for non-compliant accounts and represent the organization in legal proceedings if necessary.
• Contract Onboarding: Support the seamless transition of active students into the repayment phase, assisting with ISA contract execution and guardian disclosures.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience: 2–3 years of practical experience in debt recovery, collections, microfinance operations, financial services, or customer retention.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, portfolio tracking).
  • Familiarity with CRM software systems and data entry tools.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills for large audience engagements.
• Language & Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Kinyarwanda.
