Job Summary
The Payments & Reconciliation Transformation Lead designs bank reconciliation automation strategies, integrates cutting-edge tools directly into corporate ERP systems, and standardizes vendor reconciliation structures. This lead investigates complex corporate transactions to eliminate payment duplication, updates internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), coordinates audit readiness, provides mentorship to finance personnel, and acts as the strategic deputy to the Payments & Treasury leadership team.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Automation Blueprinting & ERP Innovation
- Strategy Execution: Own the end-to-end design and execution of global bank reconciliation automation strategies.
- Technology Integration: Partner with engineering, technology, treasury, and regional finance units to build and integrate advanced processing modules directly into the corporate ERP system.
- Process Streamlining: Transform traditional, manual transaction tracking structures into scalable, highly automated digital processes to support growing field activities.
2. Transaction Controls & Financial Risk Governance
- Vendor Reconciliations: Design, standardize, and monitor robust pre- and post-payment vendor reconciliation tracking platforms.
- Forensic Analysis: Investigate complex, multi-currency transactions to actively uncover and eliminate duplicate payments, resolve long-standing aged balances, and ensure strict policy compliance.
- Policy Guardianship: Act as the central gatekeeper for financial policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), updating compliance checklists continuously to ensure the department remains fully audit-ready.
- Process Engineering: Identify operational bottlenecks across the treasury lifecycle, designing and implementing decisive corrective action plans.
3. Professional Mentorship & Deputy Departmental Leadership
- Capability Building: Provide direct mentorship, coaching, and career path development for a dedicated team of junior and mid-level finance professionals.
- Talent Selection: Cultivate future organizational leaders and actively support recruitment initiatives to secure high-caliber external finance talent.
- Strategic Deputization: Step up as the primary strategic deputy to the Payments & Treasury leadership team, acting as an executive thought partner and driving high-stakes cross-functional projects.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Profile & Experience
- Mandatory Certification: Must be a certified CPA or ACCA Finalist (this is a strict, non-negotiable prerequisite).
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a highly related quantitative business discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience Baseline: At least six (6) to eight (8) years of progressive, verifiable experience operating inside corporate finance operations, treasury management, payments processing, or financial controls.
- Technical Reconciliations Edge: Deep, demonstrated expertise in bank, vendor, and balance sheet reconciliations, combined with advanced, hands-on experience navigating modern ERP software.
- Spreadsheet Power User: Advanced data manipulation skills inside Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, with a proven ability to organize raw data arrays into highly visual performance reports.
Citizenship & Eligibility Restrictions
- Regional Protection Boundary: This position is exclusively open to citizens or verified permanent residents of the following nations: Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria.
