Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer Expert creates technically rigorous single-choice assessment questions and detailed rationales for AI training datasets. Working remotely on contract, this MS/PhD-level specialist translates complex mechanical engineering concepts—covering Solid Mechanics, Dynamics, and Thermal-Fluids—into structured evaluation content.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. AI Content & Assessment Generation

• Question Authoring: Draft clear, accurate single-choice questions rooted in fundamental and advanced mechanical engineering principles.
• Explanation & Rationale Documentation: Write comprehensive, step-by-step rationales explaining both correct and incorrect answer options to train and benchmark AI models.
• Domain Specialization: Translate specialized concepts across one or more core domains:
  • Solid & Structural Mechanics (stress/strain analysis, elasticity, failure theories, FEA fundamentals).
  • Dynamics, Vibration & Control (kinematics, system dynamics, feedback control, modal analysis).
  • Thermal-Fluids (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, energy systems).

2. Quality Assurance & Digital Workflow

• Technical Rigor: Conduct peer-level quality reviews and revisions on drafted questions based on coordinator and reviewer feedback.
• Milestone Adherence: Manage independent project workflows to meet regular content delivery targets using collaborative digital tools and tracking platforms.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Qualifications & Competencies

• Educational Baseline: Master's (MS) or Doctorate (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering preferred (or equivalent advanced academic/research experience).
• Domain Specialization: Specialization in Solid & Structural Mechanics, Dynamics & Vibration & Control, or Thermal-Fluids.
• Technical Communication: Exceptional written English communication with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex mathematical and physical concepts clearly.
• Self-Management: High level of self-motivation and organization to manage contract deliverables independently in a remote environment.

Desirable Capabilities

• Prior experience in STEM test/assessment design, textbook authoring, or educational content creation.
• Experience in technical writing or editing for engineering publications.
• Familiarity with online collaborative environments, workflow software, and markup/formatting tools (e.g., LaTeX, Markdown).
