Charging Integration Engineer

Job Summary

The Charging Integration Engineer deploys, configures, and integrates Ericsson Charging Systems and BSS solutions for telecom operators in Kigali, Rwanda. This engineer manages core protocols (SS7, CAMEL, Diameter), troubleshoots BSS integration issues, supports Solution Architects across delivery lifecycles, and assists customer competence development.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. BSS & Charging Systems Integration

• Deployment & Configuration: Deploy, configure, integrate, and test complex Business Support System (BSS/BOS) products, prioritizing real-time Charging Systems and monetization engines.
• Protocol & Interface Engineering: Manage and troubleshoot core telecom protocols including Diameter, CAMEL, and SS7 for real-time rating, charging, and balance management.
• Portfolio Implementation: Implement Ericsson BOS portfolio solutions along with qualified third-party partner applications and cloud-based virtualization platforms.

2. Lifecycle Support & Technical Troubleshooting

• Architecture & Delivery Support: Partner with Solution Architects and Project Managers throughout pre-sales, technical scoping, delivery, and post-implementation phases.
• Problem Analysis & Resolution: Analyze complex technical integration issues, perform root-cause troubleshooting, and implement fixes.
• Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Maintain clear technical documentation, contribute to knowledge-sharing repositories, and conduct competence transfer sessions for client teams.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Technical Profile & Qualifications

• Educational Baseline: B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Telecom Track Record: Minimum 3+ years of experience in telecom or IT systems implementation, with proven knowledge of Business Support Systems (BOS/BSS).
• Protocol Mastery: Practical experience with core telecom signaling and charging protocols: SS7, CAMEL, and Diameter.
• Role Background: Prior hands-on experience in technical roles such as Charging Integration Engineer, BSS Support Specialist, or Telecom Operations Engineer (preferably within Ericsson Charging environments).
• Communication: Fluent written and spoken English with exceptional stakeholder management and customer-facing skills.

Desirable Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of cloud native architecture, containerization, and network virtualization technologies (NFV/SDN).
