Job Summary
The Full-Stack Unity Game Developer designs, programs, and deploys scalable client-server mobile gameplay loops. Core daily tasks include architecting state machines in C#, integrating 2D sprite sheets and UI view animations, building basic RESTful backend endpoints to track player progression data, resolving performance and memory constraints across mobile chipsets, embedding market attribution SDKs, and maintaining absolute version control stability.
Required Software Engineering & Unity Foundations
- Domain Tenure: Minimum of 2+ years of direct, hands-on professional experience writing clean object-oriented code in C# within the Unity 3D engine.
- Shipped Portfolio: Must have at least one successfully shipped mobile game live in production on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (verifiable live download links or a comprehensive project portfolio must be provided).
- Operational Autonomy: A proven capability to work completely independently from home, managing technical bottlenecks, tracking bugs, and building production architecture without requiring heavy management supervision.
- Asynchronous Synchronization: High communication discipline, featuring the ability to deconstruct dense engineering blockages and post clear daily progress milestones via Slack.
Required Technical Tooling & Framework Stack
- Mobile Deployment Pipelines: Practical experience compiling, profiling, and optimizing mobile builds within Xcode (iOS) and Android Studio/Gradle frameworks.
- Data Integration & APIs: Solid understanding of client-server communication paradigms, including integrating RESTful HTTP APIs, parsing JSON data nodes, and managing asynchronous network web requests.
- Version Control Literacy: Professional fluency operating Git or matching source control platforms (resolving merge conflicts, branching pipelines, cleanly committing features).
Preferred Qualifications & Infrastructure Assets
- Backend Stack Experience: Direct experience writing server-side features or managing scalable cloud databases using Node.js, Firebase, or equivalent cloud infrastructure arrays.
- Marketing SDK Integration: Hands-on familiarity embedding, configuring, and testing the AppsFlyer SDK for mobile attribution, event tracking, and ad-network analysis.
- 2D System Asset Pipelines: Advanced familiarity handling 2D-specific asset configurations, including managing optimized sprite atlases, configuring 2D Canvas UI elements, and building state-driven Animation Controllers.
- Healthcare Asset Access: Possession of a reliable, modern development machine and a high-speed internet connection, allowing for smooth remote coordination and swift build uploads.
Key Responsibilities
1. Frontend C# Gameplay Architecture & Asset Integration (40%)
- Engineer Core Gameplay Systems: Design, program, and iterate game mechanics, character abilities, inventory systems, and core logic patterns using clean, reusable C# scripts in Unity.
- Integrate Visual Media Assets: Import, configure, and optimize 2D art assets, UI layouts, particle systems, and structural animation states, ensuring smooth rendering across varying mobile screen ratios.
- Construct UI Systems: Build flexible, responsive canvas interfaces inside Unity, hooking user interactions cleanly into underlying event managers and state controllers.
- Maintain Architecture Standards: Apply strict decoupled software engineering principles (such as Singleton patterns, ScriptableObjects, and event-driven architecture) to keep code maintainable.
2. Full-Stack Backend Operations & Data Serialization (30%)
- Bridge Network Communications: Connect the frontend client to central cloud servers, handling RESTful API requests, player login protocols, and secure data sync routines.
- Manage Player State Databases: Structure scalable schemas to store, serialize, and validate user progression records, virtual currencies, and game-state data using tools like Firebase or Node.js endpoints.
- Secure Game Logics: Write client validation algorithms to verify game states locally before matching parameters with backend engines, reducing cheating vulnerabilities.
- Handle Local Saving: Build fallback local storage architectures using encrypted PlayerPrefs or custom binary storage formatting to protect offline user metrics.
3. Mobile Performance Profiling & SDK Architecture (20%)
- Profile Memory Allocations: Use the Unity Profiler and Frame Debugger to isolate memory leaks, check garbage collection spikes, and reduce overdraw issues to stabilize frames at 60fps.
- Embed Marketing Platforms: Integrate and test AppsFlyer SDK structures, mapping specific gameplay actions to ensure proper tracking of user acquisition metrics.
- Optimize Asset Sizes: Manage production compression routines, optimizing sprite sheet packing, lowering runtime memory footprints, and reducing download package sizes across app stores.
4. Continuous Operational Lifecycle Management (10%)
- Track Bugs systematically: Review user exception logs, recreate complex runtime errors, and push rapid updates to preserve app store ratings.
- Deliver Daily Sync Logs: Write brief, highly clear technical summaries on Slack every evening, detailing completed tasks, testing updates, and blocking issues.
Core Competencies & Skills
- Critical Engineering Discipline: A relentless commitment to clean code formatting, descriptive variable naming, and thin class hierarchies that minimize system clutter.
- Creative Problem Solving: The logical ability to trace a performance spike down to a specific loop or rendering setting and restructure it without altering the underlying user experience.
- Independent Time Management: Excellent self-direction habits, keeping you completely on track to hit sprint deadlines while working from home.
- Highly Collaborative Communications: The talent to explain complex structural bugs in plain language, helping team members align on quick solutions.
