Job Summary
The Treasury Accountant handles daily cash matching, payment authorizations, bank statements, and currency exchanges. Core duties include preparing liquidity forecasts; drafting treasury risk briefs for the Finance Manager; posting cash flows in SAP; negotiating market rates with local banks for foreign currency runs; managing vendor payments with Accounts Payable; and checking financial metrics to avoid lender covenant breaches.

Educational Matrix & Professional Trait Profile
- Academic Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related quantitative field from an accredited institution.
- Experience Tenure: Open to recent graduates and early-career professionals with up to two (2) years of functional experience in corporate accounting or banking.
- Prior Practical Exposure: Hands-on exposure gained through internships, industrial attachments, rigorous university capstone projects, or student leadership activities is highly valued.
- Professional Certification Track: Active progress toward a recognized professional accounting charter (such as ACCA, CPA Rwanda, or an international equivalent) is considered a distinct added advantage but is not an absolute prerequisite.
Technical & Soft Skill Stack
- Analytical Mastery: Strong numerical, mathematical, and problem-solving capabilities, with a proven ability to interpret complex financial data streams accurately.
- Software Stack Alignment: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formula design, data modeling, financial arrays) and the broader MS Office suite.
- ERP System Familiarity: Practical experience or exposure navigating enterprise resource planning databases—specifically SAP transaction codes and automated accounting workflows—is considered a strong asset.
- Core Attributes: High level of attention to detail, proactive learning capacity, excellent interpersonal communication traits, and a steadfast commitment to corporate ethics, absolute confidentiality, and internal compliance codes.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Cash Management, Liquidity Optimization & FX Operations
- Monitor and execute daily cash management routines to maximize liquid capital efficiency at the power plant.
- Build detailed, accurate short- and long-term cash flow forecasts to ensure all operational and capital expenditure liquidity needs are met.
- Analyze market conditions and directly negotiate with banking institutions to execute Foreign Exchange (FX) transactions at the best possible market rates.
- Consolidate and present daily cash position statements, liquidity updates, and accounts receivable tracking charts to the Finance Manager.
2. Payment Control, SAP Logging & Bank Reconciliations
- Audit outgoing payment instructions to verify they are completely documented, mathematically accurate, and fully authorized under corporate guidelines.
- Manage structured payment runs by maintaining seamless cross-functional communication with the Accounts Payable desk.
- Execute rapid, precise postings of all banking and petty cash movements into the SAP ERP system using appropriate transaction codes.
- Perform comprehensive monthly bank reconciliations across all corporate accounts, identifying and clearing variances immediately.
3. Compliance, Internal Controls & Relationship Governance
- Track operational data points to ensure total compliance with financial covenants and reporting obligations mandated by lenders and financial contracts.
- Monitor banking fee matrices and service structures to minimize transaction costs across all operational accounts.
- Support internal control reviews by maintaining meticulous source documentation, issuing early warning indicators to management regarding potential non-compliance risks.
- Coordinate with financial institutions to maintain corporate banking profiles and resolve transactional blockages quickly.
- Fully implement ContourGlobal’s ethical guidelines, covering Anti-Corruption rules, Supplier Codes of Conduct, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) values.
