THRIVE Project Manager

Job Summary

The THRIVE Project Manager is responsible for leading the implementation and coordination of livelihood and resilience projects to improve the economic well-being of vulnerable children and their families. The role focuses on project implementation, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder coordination, capacity building, and ensuring effective integration of livelihood models across different project areas.

Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Entrepreneurship, or related fields
• Master’s Degree in a related field is advantageous
• Foreign degree holders must provide an equivalence certificate from the Rwanda Higher Education Council (HEC)

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in community development, with a major focus on economic development
• Experience working with international NGOs, government projects, or similar organizations
• Experience in resilience and livelihood programming within Rwanda
• Experience implementing agribusiness, graduation models, and local value chain development is advantageous
• Experience working with cooperatives and financial literacy initiatives is preferred

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of THRIVE project activities related to agriculture, resilience, and economic development
• Develop project plans and ensure effective targeting, monitoring, and reporting of project results
• Provide technical support to staff and partners implementing livelihood and resilience models
• Develop business and marketing strategies for project products and services
• Facilitate training and capacity-building activities for staff, communities, and project beneficiaries
• Coordinate with project teams and partners to ensure integrated and effective implementation
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, cash flow, and expenditure performance
• Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions
• Develop monitoring tools and track project performance indicators
• Collect, analyze, and document project data, impact stories, and lessons learned
• Prepare accurate and timely project reports for organizational and government requirements
• Develop communication materials including brochures, leaflets, and promotional resources
• Represent the organization in technical meetings, forums, and communities of practice
• Strengthen collaboration with local partners, government institutions, and other stakeholders
• Ensure project models contribute to sustainable poverty alleviation and improved livelihoods

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of resilience, livelihoods, and community development programs
• Understanding of Rwanda’s poverty alleviation and multi-sectoral development approaches
• Strong project planning, implementation, and management skills
• Knowledge of agriculture, agribusiness, value chain development, and economic empowerment initiatives
• Financial management, budgeting, and reporting skills
• Monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, and documentation skills
• Capacity-building and training facilitation skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build effective relationships with communities, partners, and government stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Proficiency in computer applications and digital reporting tools
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda
• Knowledge of French is an advantage
• Valid Category B driving license with the ability to drive a vehicle
