Shopify Developer & E-commerce Optimization Specialist

Job Summary

The Shopify Developer & E-commerce Optimization Specialist will oversee the front-end performance and backend application stability of the Shopify platform. This includes deploying custom Liquid modifications, monitoring Core Web Vitals, maintaining system data integrations with external inventory databases, managing application plug-in compatibility, and restructuring digital catalog pathways.

Qualification

• Core Language Competency: Absolute command of Shopify Liquid code composition and theme architecture manipulation.
• Analytical Mindset: High-level conversion rate optimization (CRO) literacy, with a thorough understanding of user psychology, mobile responsiveness, and UI/UX best practices.
• Operational Habits: Exceptional attention to technical detail, particularly when managing complex metafield linkages, database attributes, and plugin logic.
• Autonomy Metric: Proven ability to work independently, self-prioritize optimization backlogs, and proactively resolve technical errors without constant oversight.

Experience

Candidates must demonstrate a practical track record of driving performance on commercial storefronts:

Shopify Development Footprint

• On-the-Job Tenure: A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of hands-on experience in Shopify development and theme customization.
• Code Customization History: Deep familiarity editing front-end parameters via HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and custom Liquid modules to refine site presentation and conversion flows.

Systems Integration & Performance Tuning

• Third-Party Data Syncing: Documented experience connecting and troubleshooting external inventory management systems, ERPs, or CRMs with a live Shopify database. Prior experience with the Consigner inventory management system is highly advantageous.
• Site Speed Performance: Proven experience auditing and optimizing Core Web Vitals, page weight, asset caching, and script execution to maximize site speed scores.
• Plugin Environment Governance: Practical background managing multi-plugin dependencies, identifying application code conflicts, and stripping out redundant application scripts to safeguard site stability.

Key Responsibilities

Storefront Optimization, Theme Customization & CRO

• Drive Conversion Architecture: Continuously audit and optimize the Shopify storefront to improve conversion rates (CRO), enhance the user experience, and eliminate broken checkout or navigational flows.
• Deploy Custom Liquid Code: Write, test, and implement custom Shopify Liquid code modifications to upgrade native theme functionality, establish tailored layout structures, and align the UX with brand goals.
• Govern App & Plugin Compatibility: Actively monitor a multi-plugin environment, resolving operational code conflicts, optimizing app payloads, and ensuring smooth platform compatibility during system updates.
• Manage Platform Performance: Track, report, and continuously improve site performance metrics, with a direct focus on Core Web Vitals, page load speeds, and mobile rendering.

Catalog Management, Inventory Integration & Administration

• Synchronize Inventory Systems: Manage and troubleshoot the real-time data integration between the backend Consigner inventory management system and Shopify, overseeing complex custom metafield linking and stock updates.
• Govern Catalog Structures: Maintain highly accurate collections architectures, filtering tags, and product categorization schemas across the entire e-commerce site.
• Execute Strategic Site Audits: Conduct routine front-end technical site audits to uncover and prioritize conversion opportunities, formatting issues, or user friction points.
• Collaborate with Leadership: Partner directly with the business owner to transform commercial growth strategies into functional, robust technical site implementations.
