Job Summary
The Senior Full-Stack Engineer designs, builds, and optimizes high-traffic web features and backend microservices across refurbed’s marketplace ecosystem. Core daily duties include writing high-performance server-side services in Go, constructing responsive, accessible client interfaces using Nuxt and Vue, designing resilient event-driven APIs (gRPC/REST), running A/B feature experiments, and driving technical design via formal RFC reviews while mentoring peers.
Foundational Engineering & Architecture Prerequisites
- Application Architecture: Significant professional experience designing, deploying, and maintaining complex, high-traffic full-stack web applications.
- Frontend Framework Fluency: Advanced, hands-on development experience building robust applications using Nuxt and Vue, backed by deep knowledge of modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Modern Styling Architecture: Direct experience working with utility-first CSS frameworks, specifically Tailwind CSS, ensuring clean, maintainable style systems.
- Backend Service Mastery: Strong professional background writing production-grade, highly concurrent backend services and APIs using Go (Golang).
- Relational & In-Memory Data Stores: Solid understanding of data modeling, schema migrations, and performance tuning inside PostgreSQL and caching strategies via Redis.
- Distributed Event Systems: Strong foundational knowledge of API design metrics, distributed system layouts, and event-driven architectures utilizing mechanisms like gRPC or message brokers.
- Pragmatic Execution: Comfortable balancing code refactoring and technical debt mitigation against pressing business priorities inside fast-paced product environments.
- Communication Clarity: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, capable of explaining complex architectural trade-offs to cross-functional teams.
- Geographic Parameters: Must be physically located within a European time zone to ensure asynchronous and synchronous team alignment.
- Academic Grounding: Formal education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Preferred Technical Multipliers
- High-Traffic E-Commerce Exposure: Past experience scaling user-facing consumer checkout flows or discovery engines serving millions of monthly active users.
- Performance & Core Web Vitals: Background in tuning server-side rendering (SSR) pipelines, optimizing images, and mastering SEO requirements to maintain elite Core Web Vitals scores.
- Infrastructure Observability: Familiarity with modern infrastructure monitoring, telemetry tracing, testing frameworks, and continuous deployment systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. High-Performance Frontend & Core Web Vitals Engineering
- Develop scalable, responsive, and accessible user interfaces using Nuxt and Vue to maximize consumer retention.
- Ensure all user-facing web layers follow strict international web accessibility (WCAG), performance optimization, and modern SEO implementation standards.
- Build and scale high-traffic landing pages and product grids that load quickly for millions of users across various device classes and browsers.
2. High-Concurrency Backend Service Architecture
- Design, build, and maintain highly stable backend services, microservices, and micro-APIs inside the Go engineering stack.
- Manage data persistence and integrity across PostgreSQL instances, setting up optimized indexing and clean caching patterns via Redis.
- Evolve event-driven messaging networks and internal communication layers utilizing gRPC to maintain system reliability during traffic surges.
3. Technical Design, Governance & Innovation
- Drive technical design choices, system architecture improvements, and cross-team code consistency through written Requests for Comments (RFCs) and design specs.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and agile peers to take new product features from raw concepts to production code.
- Launch programmatic A/B testing variations and feature-flagged rollout strategies to gather user performance data safely.
4. Mentorship & Team Growth
- Review peer pull requests diligently, providing constructive engineering feedback to ensure long-term codebase health.
- Mentor mid-level and junior developers, participate in technical engineering hiring panels, and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing workshops.
Core Competencies & Technical Skills
- Isomorphic Full-Stack Fluency: The ability to shift smoothly between writing highly concurrent, resource-efficient backend logic in Go and designing rich, reactive frontend states inside Nuxt.
- Asynchronous Data Modeling: Deep understanding of distributed transactions, event sequencing, race conditions, and message brokers inside microservice clusters.
- Semantic UI & Accessibility: Complete dedication to writing semantic HTML, constructing accessible components, and keeping Tailwind CSS implementations clean and scalable.
- Algorithmic Performance Diagnostics: The analytical mindset to dig into Slow Query Logs in PostgreSQL, profiling CPU usage in Go routines, or evaluating bundle sizes in Webpack/Vite.
- Decoupled System Mindset: An engineering approach focused on building clear domain boundaries, reusable utilities, and clean API contracts that decouple client code from storage engines.
Expected Outputs & Deliverables
- Clean, modular, and fully tested full-stack code deployments using Go and Nuxt/Vue.
- Well-documented API specifications and formal RFC technical design documents for new platform features.
- Structured data models, database migration records, and optimized configuration scripts for PostgreSQL and Redis layers.
- Rigorous A/B test definitions, feature flag configurations, and post-deployment performance reports.
