Job Summary
The Senior Construction Manager will direct day-to-day site execution, optimize the allocation of heavy machinery and labor teams, and audit construction progress against timeline baselines. Key functions include translating master designs within AutoCAD into field tasks, generating detailed resource allocation schedules in MS Project, tracking project expenditures through SAP modules, and managing client and subcontractor interactions to protect and maximize project profitability.
Qualification
- Educational Level: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or structural engineering institute.
- Software Competency: Robust operational familiarity with SAP, AutoCAD, and MS Project, alongside comprehensive mastery of the MS Office suite.
- Linguistic Skills: Absolute fluency in professional written and spoken English, vital for drafting executive progress metrics, conducting legal-grade contract reviews, and directing multi-national team briefings.
- Core Leadership Qualities: Exceptional problem analysis and resolution mechanics, a ruthless results-oriented approach, and highly developed communication effectiveness.
Experience
Candidates must demonstrate a definitive history of steering multi-million dollar civil works, orchestrating massive asset sheets, and managing project risk profiles:
Heavy Civil Leadership & Resource Mastery
- Professional Longevity: A minimum of 15+ years of verified, continuous experience operating strictly in Construction Project Management or Chief Site Operations roles on active heavy civil infrastructure project sites.
- Resource Optimization: Proven track record of managing, leveling, and optimizing massive human resource capital sheets and heavy machinery fleets under tight economic limits.
- SEQ System Enforcement: Direct history of implementing and enforcing strict Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SEQ) management plans, ensuring zero-harm operations and full compliance with statutory laws.
Project Controls & Strategic Collaboration
- Project Manager Alliance: Extensive experience acting as the primary operational deputy, supporting the Project Manager in tracking structural milestones and adjusting baselines to match physical realities.
- Data-Driven Site Management: Demonstrated background utilizing enterprise tracking environments (SAP/MS Project) to map out site progress curves and control operational costs.
- Contractor & Vendor Control: Solid history of managing multi-tiered subcontractor networks, resolving technical design conflicts on-site, and leading technical alignment sessions with external institutional clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Site Management & Asset Optimization
- Govern Daily Field Operations: Direct and coordinate all structural, earthworks, and infrastructure activities on-site, ensuring daily production targets align with the master construction timeline.
- Optimize Resource Sheets: Formulate and execute lean scheduling matrixes for all labor crews, heavy engineering plants, and materials to eliminate waste and maximize project profit boundaries.
- Enforce Regulatory & SEQ Standards: Act as the ultimate on-site authority for safety and environmental compliance, ensuring all operational areas pass internal audits and local statutory inspections.
Financial Control & Progress Analytics
- Maximize Economic Objectives: Monitor ongoing construction expenditures in tandem with the Project Manager, implementing aggressive cost-control measures to maximize net project margins.
- Deconstruct Planning Schedules: Utilize MS Project and AutoCAD data to analyze critical path networks, designing practical site acceleration schemes to mitigate weather or supply chain disruptions.
- Audit Subcontractor Workloads: Review, validate, and sign off on the physical work completed by sub-tier construction vendors before financial disbursement, eliminating volume variances.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication
- Bridge Office and Field Operations: Serve as the chief link connecting the engineering technical office, procurement logistics, and active field supervisors to streamline material delivery and installation phases.
- Represent Corporate Interests: Participate in technical site alignment sessions alongside client representatives, structural consultants, and regulatory inspectors, protecting contract boundaries.
- Foster Teamwork and Development: Mentor, guide, and upskill junior civil engineers and site supervisors, instilling a proactive, deadline-driven, and safety-first work ethic.
