Job Summary
The Rwanda Dual Operator supports medical fulfillment and autonomous flight execution at Zipline distribution centers. Cross-trained through Zipline Academy, this operator manages temperature-controlled order packing, inventory tracking, Zip assembly, pre/post-flight safety checks, automated drone launch/recovery, and operational incident response.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Medical Fulfillment & Warehouse Operations
- Receiving & Quality Control: Inspect, log, and store incoming medical products, blood supplies, and animal health goods in accordance with temperature and quality SOPs.
- Order Packing & Verification: Pick, pack, label, and double-verify health commodities to ensure order accuracy, cold-chain preservation, and compliance with distribution standards.
- Inventory Hygiene: Perform routine stock-taking, cycle counts, and warehouse organizing to maintain clean, audit-ready operational zones.
2. Autonomous Flight Operations & UAS Launch
- Launch & Recovery Execution: Assemble Zips (drones), execute pre- and post-flight safety checklists, manage launch equipment, and perform safe aircraft recovery post-delivery.
- Flight Monitoring & Safety: Monitor active autonomous flights using Fleetdeck, identify operational risks, and log off-nominal events through ticketing channels during shift handovers.
- Incident Response & Field Support: Participate in aircraft retrieval efforts, root-cause investigations, and maintenance escalations across teams.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Inter-Departmental Synergy: Coordinate closely with Flight Operators, Fulfillment Leads, and the Centralized Call Center (CCC) to maintain flight throughput.
- Quality & SOP Adherence: Identify workflow bottlenecks, suggest process optimizations, and adhere to strict safety SOPs to uphold zero-harm operational standards.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Educational Profile & Experience
- Educational Baseline: Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND), vocational certificate, or equivalent training in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanics, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy, Veterinary Studies, or related technical/health disciplines.
- Experience Level: Open to recent graduates and early-career candidates (0–2 years of experience) passionate about aviation, technical fieldwork, and healthcare logistics.
- Physical & Environmental Agility: Comfortable performing manual tasks (standing, walking, lifting 10+ kg), working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and maintaining focus in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy, familiarity with handheld scanners/monitoring tools, and precise SOP adherence.
Shift & Location Commitments
- Legal authorization to work in Rwanda.
- Willingness to relocate to any assigned distribution center (Muhanga, Kayonza, or Karongi).
- Full commitment to a 24/7 rotational shift schedule covering 40+ hours per week, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
