Job Summary
The Remote After Effects Expert will serve as a core technical evaluator, building and grading specialized datasets that mirror professional motion design pipelines. The mandate focuses on breaking down complex compositing sequences, evaluating template structures, and authoring precise, step-by-step documentation to train AI models on technical creative execution.
Qualification
- Software Toolkit Dominance: Advanced, verified operational knowledge of Adobe After Effects and primary companions within the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Technical Communication Skillset: Exceptional written and verbal English communication abilities, with a proven knack for explaining complex visual effects pipelines to non-creative stakeholders.
- Analytical Capacity: A meticulous eye for visual pacing, pixel artifacts, layers integration, and vector cleanlines, paired with the self-direction needed to meet remote benchmarks.
- Expressions Literacy (Preferred): Familiarity with scripting within the application—specifically writing, debugging, or breaking down After Effects Expressions (JavaScript) to automate layer parameters—is highly desirable.
Experience
Motion Graphics & Visual Effects Production
- Field Tenure Alignment: Mid-level professional standing supported by a robust, diverse portfolio demonstrating clean compositing, precise easing, and complex rendering setups.
- Workflow Optimization & Troubleshooting: Hands-on history handling complex multi-layer compositions, color space managements, keying operations, and advanced tracking (mocha, point/planar tracking).
- Educational or Critique Background (Preferred): Prior experience writing technical tutorials, developing templates for public marketplaces, or conducting formal creative project reviews.
Key Responsibilities
Workflow Evaluation, Annotation & Dataset Architecture (40%)
- Evaluate Structural Timelines: Review, open, and critique complex project files (.aep) and motion graphics templates (.mogrt), assessing them for structural logic, asset organization, and optimal rendering.
- Construct Technical Datasets: Create and organize specialized sample files that isolate specific techniques (e.g., kinetic typography, cell animation, matchmoving) to feed training models real-world examples.
- Deconstruct Visual Processes: Break down multifaceted animation and compositing sequences into clear datasets that map human intent to visual output.
Technical Documentation, Writing & Tutorial Design (35%)
- Author Step-by-Step Guides: Draft clear, comprehensive documentation and training resources that explain why specific creative or technical decisions were executed across a timeline.
- Translate Creative Choices: Articulate abstract concepts—like weight, timing, and secondary action—into logical text inputs that machine learning algorithms can process.
- Provide Structured Peer Feedback: Collaborate with cross-functional software engineers and data annotators, delivering clear feedback to refine model generations.
Quality Assurance & Automation Analysis (25%)
- Enforce Production Standards: Inspect AI-generated video outputs against professional standards, flagging issues like frame blending drops, spatial warps, and tracking drifts.
- Audit Automation Scripts: Evaluate and annotate code snippets, scripts, or Expressions used to link visual parameters, ensuring code-driven animations remain stable.
Expected Outputs & Deliverables
- Meticulously organized Adobe After Effects project packages containing annotated layers and clean comps.
- Comprehensive technical breakdowns, step-by-step workflow documentations, and instructional assets.
- Auditable evaluation logs and scorecards assessing machine-generated video files against human reference points.
- Validated behavioral datasets tracking and documenting common motion design industry practices.
