Job Summary
The Relationship Supervisor – Channels drives the commercial expansion, system utilization, and relationship health of the branch's digital products portfolio. Core daily responsibilities include executing agent banking recruitment, processing branch-level compliance approvals, driving activation and performance metrics across POS/PWE merchant networks, accelerating International Money Transfers (IMT) and intercountry business lines, managing physical card stocks, performing structured competitor analysis, and guaranteeing total alignment with all central Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulatory frameworks.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
- Academic Preparation: A completed Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline (such as Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Marketing, or Economics) from a recognized university.
- Sector Footprint: A minimum of 2+ years of direct, verified professional experience managing Agency Banking networks or Merchant Acquiring portfolios inside a regulated commercial banking or microfinance ecosystem.
- FinTech & Digital Fluency: Exceptional structural understanding of alternative delivery channels (ADC), mobile money integrations, digital wallet systems, and merchant settlement workflows.
- Sales & Relationship Mastery: Proven history of field-based client acquisition, account relationship optimization, complex commercial contract negotiations, and localized account mapping.
- Financial Diagnostics Capability: Solid analytical skills to interpret financial statements, assess merchant turnover volumes, map credit risk profiles, and build clear commercial business cases.
- Communication Excellence: Elite presentation, negotiation, verbal, and written communication habits, paired with a collaborative, results-driven attitude.
- Industry Jurisprudence: Strong working knowledge of local central banking rules, commercial banking guidelines, and operational framework updates.
Channel Portfolio & System Architecture
In this supervisory track, your daily operations bridge high-tech financial software configurations with field-level execution arrays:
- Agent Network Optimization: Running rigorous compliance, collection, and localized onboarding protocols to sustain a targeted 90% active utilization rate across all regional branch agents.
- Merchant Acquiring Frameworks: Deploying Point of Sale (POS) terminals and Pay With Ease (PWE) digital tills across local commercial centers to capture regional retail transaction volumes.
- International Remittance Hubs: Driving cross-border trade transactions by expanding International Money Transfers (IMT) and multi-currency intercountry banking services.
- Stock Control Systems: Maintaining strict auditing control loops over physical debit/credit card inventories to ensure zero stockouts at the branch level.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Recruitment, Document Control & Compliance Verification
- Source, evaluate, and recruit high-potential Banking Agents and Merchant accounts throughout the Kirehe branch territory.
- Oversee the gathering, vetting, and processing of all required legal and corporate registration documentation for digital channels at the branch level.
- Enforce strict compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies during all agent and merchant sign-ups, protecting the institution from systemic risk.
2. Commercial Optimization & Network Activation
- Track and optimize the performance of all branch digital channels, maintaining a 90% continuous activity threshold across all local Agents, Merchants, POS systems, and PWE Tills.
- Create and run targeted reactivation strategies for dormant agents, providing on-site training and marketing support to boost transaction counts.
- Deploy localized business development campaigns to grow International Money Transfers (IMT) and intercountry corporate transactions at the branch level.
3. Account Relationship Management & Client Retention
- Manage a structured portfolio of key merchant and agent relationships through regular on-site visits and scheduled performance reviews.
- Introduce new digital banking products across the branch network, matching specialized platform features to specific client business requirements.
- Maintain a secure card stock inventory tracking system, performing regular audits to prevent branch-level card shortages.
4. Market Intelligence, Collaboration & Strategy Sync
- Conduct ongoing regional market analysis, evaluating local competitor payment products, fee structures, and technology shifts.
- Document and propose localized technology enhancements to the Head Office systems engineering team to improve client user experience.
- Collaborate closely with the institutional banking leadership group to execute unified payment strategies and achieve branch-level KPIs.
