The Project Manager holds comprehensive accountability for project execution, resource allocation, and budget controls across a diverse portfolio of mining advisory projects. Key mandates involve overseeing analyst task structures using modern tools like Asana, interpreting complex risk datasets, tracking project financial health, and producing pristine slide decks and reports tailored to senior corporate stakeholders and international clients.
Qualification
Candidates must meet the following baseline educational, language, and workspace standards:
- Language Mastery (Mandatory): Absolute professional fluency in French (both written and spoken) is required to successfully coordinate with central/west African teams and stakeholders. Full professional proficiency in English is equally essential.
- Professional Foundation: A solid academic background in Business Administration, Finance, International Development, Sustainability, Mining Engineering, or an equivalent analytical discipline.
- Methodological Fluency: Complete familiarity with modern project management toolsets (e.g., Asana, Jira, or Smartsheet) and advanced spreadsheet-based financial modeling systems.
Experience
Candidates must demonstrate the following professional track record, financial management skills, and analytical capabilities:
- Professional Services Background: Prior documented experience working within a management consulting, corporate advisory, or professional services firm, with demonstrated responsibility for managing delivery workstreams.
- Financial Management Fluency: Proven skills in managing complex project budgets, developing financial forecasts, tracking resource burn rates, analyzing spending variances, and facilitating accurate client invoicing.
- Advanced Data Analytics: Demonstrated background in structuring, synthesizing, and interpreting multi-layered data packages—such as operational risk metrics, field monitoring reports, and supply chain performance indicators.
- Stakeholder Management: Practical history of acting as a direct, trusted point of contact for corporate clients, seamlessly navigating scope changes, and conducting challenging project alignment discussions.
- Team Leadership: Experience managing, mentoring, and quality-assuring the work of Analysts, project interns, and geographically dispersed, in-country field teams.
- Deliverable Engineering: A proven record of building client-ready, structurally flawless slide decks, technical briefings, and executive reports that require minimal senior executive review.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Financial Control
- Own Project Lifecycles: Lead client projects from initial inception to final completion, ensuring every workstream crosses the finish line on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Enforce Budget Discipline: Draft and monitor detailed project budgets, maintaining real-time visibility over cost controls, resource burn rates, and financial variances.
- Mitigate Delivery Risks: Proactively flag financial anomalies, resource bottlenecks, or operational scope creep to the Project Director and Operations Director.
- Structure Agile Workplans: Utilize project management tools (Asana) to orchestrate daily analyst workflows, resolve structural dependencies, and optimize team delivery speeds.
Data Synthesis & Client Advisory
- Translate Complex Data: Evaluate and synthesize field monitoring outputs, human rights risk data, and mine site compliance metrics into defensible, actionable insights.
- Craft High-Impact Presentations: Design slick, well-structured slide decks and dashboards that effectively communicate complex supply chain risks and recommendations to corporate leaders.
- Nurture Client Trust: Act as the day-to-day anchor for client accounts, handling delicate scope conversations and technical alignment sessions with absolute professionalism.
Team Quality Control & Growth Support
- Enforce Output Quality: Review, critique, and quality-assure analytical models, database logs, and draft reports generated by junior analysts and in-country staff.
- Mentor Junior Talent: Provide structured performance feedback, support onboarding routines, and foster technical competence development among junior team members.
- Support Business Development: Contribute directly to incoming proposal developments, project pricing formulations, client pitches, and regional business growth documentation.
