Job Summary
The Project Manager leads EF’s strategic engagement with Rwanda's pre-service teacher education ecosystem, including Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), the University of Rwanda College of Education (UR-CE), and the University of Rwanda Centre for Language Enhancement (UR-CLE). Under the SPEAQ program, this highly collaborative role focuses on driving efforts to strengthen English language proficiency, enhance pre-service curricula, build faculty capacity, and foster immersive English learning environments. The position aims to ensure future teachers enter the workforce with the pedagogical and professional skills necessary for long-term education transformation.
Qualification
- Relevant academic background in Education, Applied Linguistics, International Development, or a related field matching higher education implementation.
- Expert competency in steering curriculum development and institutional change processes.
Experience
- Proven track record working comfortably within higher education environments, teacher-training institutions, or complex public education programs.
- Extensive experience building trusted partnerships with academic leaders, ministry officials, and diverse government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated field-level experience translating organizational strategy into practical program implementation, leading workshops, and supporting faculty development.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Institutional Partnership & Program Leadership:
- Serve as EF's primary focal point for ongoing institutional engagement with TTCs, UR-CE, and UR-CLE.
- Lead the comprehensive planning, implementation, coordination, and administrative follow-up of all pre-service teacher education initiatives.
- Ensure all program designs align tightly with Rwanda's national education priorities and EF’s global academic standards.
Curriculum Enhancement & Academic Collaboration:
- Collaborate with academic teams and institutional leadership to enhance pre-service teacher education curricula.
- Embed modern language learning strategies, proficiency markers, and pedagogical tools into the training framework.
Faculty & Instructor Capacity Building:
- Support the professional development of institutional faculty and instructors through continuous mentorship and structural training programs.
- Facilitate academic workshops aimed at upgrading systemic English teaching capabilities.
English Learning Environment & Student Engagement:
- Drive initiatives that foster immersive, supportive English learning environments across campuses for future teachers.
- Cultivate active student engagement and peer-to-peer learning mechanics within target institutions.
Field Support, Safeguarding & Inclusion:
- Provide proactive field-level support by regularly visiting campuses across all 16 TTCs nationwide.
- Monitor program health, implement safeguarding standards, and ensure total inclusion and belonging across all project activities.
