Job Summary
The Measurement Technician will perform end-to-end task quantifications, analyze blueprints within AutoCAD to calculate material requirements, and generate monthly measurement sheets under the direct guidance of Works Management. Key duties include auditing third-party sub-contract claims, organizing commercial project tracking logs, mitigating quantity variances, and verifying structural metrics to accelerate client payment pipelines.
Qualification
- Educational Level: Professional training, technical diploma, or a certified qualification specifically in the field of Measurements, Civil Quantity Surveying, or Building Economics.
- Software Competency: Intermediate to advanced operational proficiency in AutoCAD for manipulating structural layouts and drawing extractions, paired with comprehensive mastery of the MS Office suite (specifically MS Excel).
- Linguistic Skills: Absolute fluency in professional written and spoken English, vital for drafting legally compliant measurement reports and interacting with corporate client interfaces.
- Aesthetic & Soft Skills: Highly developed structural planning, exceptional organizational discipline, and a proactive approach to risk and problem analysis.
Experience
Candidates must demonstrate direct technical competence within civil progress mapping, quantity tracking, and client contract management:
Technical Surveying & Quantification
- Professional Longevity: A minimum of 5 years of continuous, verified professional experience operating strictly as a functional Measurement Technician or Quantity Surveyor assistant on active construction developments.
- Advanced Measurement Reporting: Proven track record of drafting, auditing, and defending complex measurement sheets used directly to justify material requisitions, purchase orders, and commercial progress billings.
- Workload Optimization: Practical experience analyzing task sequences to calculate future work volumes, ensuring project procurement matches physical realities perfectly.
Contract & Subcontractor Governance
- Subcontractor Progress Auditing: Direct experience reviewing, measuring, and adjusting progress claims submitted by subcontractors, ensuring zero overpayment or material waste.
- Client Interface & Contract Navigation: Familiarity navigating formal contract structures and working directly with client engineers to secure official sign-offs on monthly measurement volumes.
- As-Built Alignment: Deep experience working closely with site engineering and Works Management to align theoretical architectural blueprints with real-world, as-built physical dimensions.
Key Responsibilities
Quantitative Site Measurement & Blueprint Analysis
- Deconstruct AutoCAD Blueprints: Analyze incoming architectural and engineering models within AutoCAD to compute exact material volumes, areas, and linear profiles required for upcoming execution phases.
- Conduct Field Valuations: Run rigorous physical evaluations of completed work sectors alongside site supervisors to cross-examine and calculate structural progress with total geometric precision.
- Establish Workload Forecasts: Calculate and isolate the exact workload parameters of pending site activities to optimize resource allocation and prevent supply blockages.
Progress Reporting & Commercial Invoicing
- Compile Measurement Reports: Author and compile the definitive technical measurement sheets required by executive management for overarching economic planning and material supply logistics.
- Audit Subcontractor Claims: Serve as the first line of defense against material variance by auditing subcontractor progress logs against observed physical field metrics before financial disbursement.
- Accelerate Client Invoicing: Prepare and package highly structured monthly performance measurement certificates to facilitate prompt, smooth, and indisputable invoicing directly to the client.
Document Control & Operational Alignment
- Maintain Auditable Archives: Maintain a meticulous, scannable document index of all approved measurement reports, site changes, and signed progress reports to ensure total compliance during internal and external project audits.
- Align with Works Management: Execute daily and weekly tracking schedules strictly in accordance with strategic guidelines, priorities, and workflow parameters set by the active Works Management team.
