IT Officier

Job Summary

The IT Officer will administer, configure, optimize, and protect the African School of Governance’s foundational digital environments. This position balances specialized software administration (ERP, Student Information Systems, Canvas/Moodle LMS) with secure cloud infrastructure engineering (Microsoft 365, Entra ID, IAM frameworks) and baseline infrastructure support to maintain a highly stable academic network.

Qualification

• Compulsory Technical Certifications: Candidates must hold at least one (1) of the following industry credentials (or a validated direct equivalent):
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)
  • Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Identity Management Implementation
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
• Educational Tracks & Tenure Variations:
  • Track A: A formal Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a related field combined with a minimum of five (5) years / 60 months of hands-on technical field experience.
  • Track B: A Master’s degree in the same quantitative fields coupled with a minimum of three (3) years of hands-on technical field experience.
• Core Behavioral Dynamics: High accuracy in record management, strong analytical thinking, exceptional crisis and conflict resolution habits, and a patient, empathetic approach to customer service when assisting students, faculty, and staff.

Candidates must demonstrate deep operational competency across several multi-layer technical domains:

Academic Software & Identity Governance

• LMS Environment Administration: Direct experience configuring, maintaining, and providing tier-2 technical support for Canvas LMS and Moodle LMS platforms, managing integrations, term structures, and course configurations.
• Identity & Access Management (IAM): Comprehensive expertise deploying Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access policies, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) across corporate or academic networks.
• Enterprise Infrastructure Operations: Strong, demonstrable track record administering both Windows and Linux Server systems, patch tools, and database environments.

Cloud Suites & Information Security

• Microsoft 365 Tenant Mastery: Expert proficiency managing the Microsoft 365 administration space, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), SharePoint distribution hubs, and Intune endpoint management tools.
• Cybersecurity Control Protocols: Solid understanding of modern information security principles, threat detection strategies, data encryption rules, vulnerability assessment, and local data protection regulations.
• Business Continuity Execution: Proven ability to deploy, manage, and verify structural data backup routines, recovery systems, and localized disaster readiness parameters.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Systems, LMS, & Microsoft 365 Administration

• Administer ERP & Student Information Systems (SIS): Configure, test, and support institutional ERP/SIS databases, managing user accounts, permission trees, custom workflows, and vendor updates.
• Govern Academic Learning Platforms (LMS): Direct course creation parameters, automate user enrollments, structure term permissions, and resolve second-level technical bugs for faculty, staff, and student nodes inside Canvas or Moodle.
• Manage Microsoft 365 Suite: Configure user permissions, license profiles, shared mailboxes, and corporate compliance paths within Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
• Direct Onboarding & Offboarding Workflows: Maintain structural access logic across institutional software, using RBAC to configure accounts for incoming and outgoing employees or students.

Cybersecurity Governance, Reporting & Infrastructure Support

• Enforce Information Security Standards: Monitor system access logs, evaluate unusual system interactions, enforce MFA thresholds, and participate actively in routine vulnerability remediation sweeps.
• Optimize Data Quality & Reporting: Assist academic departments with precise report generation, structural data extractions, and ongoing validation testing to ensure cross-system data integrity.
• Maintain Tech Documentation & Asset Tracking: Build and compile updated system configuration blueprints, incident logs, vendor service level agreements (SLAs), software subscriptions, and hardware inventory lists.
• Deliver User Onboarding & Training: Conduct technical orientation modules for new staff, build easily understandable user guides, and publish knowledge base entries to ease tool adoption.
• Support Physical Infrastructure Lifecycle: Collaborate with the Network IT Officer to provide backup hardware configuration for laptop nodes, printer groups, edge devices, and localized network troubleshooting.

Skills Required:
