Job Summary
The IT Officer (Hardware & Software) is responsible for maintaining the operational health, reliability, and security of the institution’s computing assets, wide-area networks, and applications. The scope of this role spans software setup, hardware procurement support, branch server maintenance, network troubleshooting, database backup schedules, and helpdesk management for all staff. The position reports directly to the Head of Operations.
Qualification
Candidates must meet the following educational and certification standards:
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or closely related fields.
- Preferred Merits: Grads with First Class or Upper Division qualifications are highly preferred.
- Professional Certifications (Added Advantage): Professional IT certifications (such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, MCSA, or ITIL) are highly advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum Criteria: Minimum of one (1) year of relevant working experience in IT, networking, or systems support within banks, microfinance institutions, or related financial institutions.
- Verification Rule: Experience must be officially proven by clear certificates of service rendered from previous employers.
- Domain Assets: A strong understanding of microfinance banking operations, database management, and active core banking systems.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Administration & Core Banking Support
- Provide responsive, first-line support for all network and software-related issues, including first-level support for the Core Banking System (CBS) at the Head Office, branches, and sub-branches.
- Set up digital accounts for new users, manage active directory items, and systematically maintain user access rights across systems.
- Install and configure verified software applications, internal operating systems, enterprise internet services, and secure email systems.
- Monitor system performance regularly, execute preventive health checks on servers, and recommend tech improvements where necessary.
- Ensure total compliance with institutional IT policies, cyber protocols, and standard operational security procedures.
Infrastructure, Networking & Disaster Recovery
- Maintain the integrity of networking infrastructure, local area configurations, WAN links, security configurations, and internet connectivity.
- Manage and safeguard automated backup frameworks, disaster recovery procedures, and database storage systems to prevent data loss.
- Review vendor service contracts and help coordinate technical software procurement processes for the entire institution.
- Maintain updated knowledge of current technologies, patch updates, emerging system standards, and modern hardware options.
Hardware Maintenance & Field Operations
- Provide comprehensive first-line support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, point-of-sale peripherals, and other IT hardware used by staff.
- Coordinate IT hardware procurement, manage tech hardware inventory, and build reliable relationships with external hardware vendors.
- Perform regular cleaning, physical servicing, and parts replacement for computers, printers, and accessories across all offices.
- Travel regularly to physical branches, sub-branches, and localized outlets when required to deliver hands-on technical support and troubleshoot site issues.
- Perform any other digital management duties assigned by the Head of Operations or superior authorities in alignment with law.

- Technical Domain: Deep operational knowledge of WAN networks, domain user management, system administration, and IT troubleshooting.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high capacity to diagnose complex bugs or connection errors under pressure.
- Resource Governance: Ability to manage, track, and safeguard expensive corporate equipment and enterprise IT resources independently.
- Age Requirement: Must be 35 years old or younger.

- Professional Attitude: High level of personal integrity, positive attitude, professional work ethic, and a dedication to strict data confidentiality.
- Collaboration Mastery: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to explain technical troubleshooting steps clearly to non-technical users.
