Job Summary
The Inventory & AP Junior Accountant will manage monthly inventory and Accounts Payable ledger reconciliations across all international program areas, resolve outstanding supply chain payment items, enter operational data, and partner with cross-functional teams to accelerate month-end closing timelines through ERP system optimizations.
Qualification
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related economic field.
- Professional Accreditations (In Progress): Active progress toward a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) credential, ideally at the Intermediate level.
- Software Competency Matrix: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with a proven ability to deploy complex formulas (e.g., index/match, nested ifs, arrays) to parse and clean large operational data sets.
- System Familiarity: Practical experience working inside enterprise-level ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics).
Experience
Candidates must demonstrate strong foundational skills in ledger balancing and cross-departmental coordination:
Core Ledger Reconciliation & Data Analytics
- Professional Longevity: Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable, hands-on experience in corporate accounting, inventory auditing, or bookkeeping environments.
- Multi-Country Inventory Accounting: Demonstrated track record processing balance sheets and reconciling inventory ledger balances against remote warehouse physical counts.
- Accounts Payable Mechanics: Comprehensive knowledge of standard AP life cycles, three-way matching principles (Purchase Order vs. Receiving Log vs. Supplier Invoice), and vendor clearing routines.
- Accurate Data Analysis: Proven ability to rapidly cross-reference, spot anomalies, and clean large data arrays without compromising financial accuracy.
Stakeholder Coordination & Process Optimization
- Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management: Direct experience acting as a financial liaison to non-finance operational units, including Logistics, Procurement, and Global Sourcing teams.
- Process Automation & CI Support: Background participation in continuous improvement (CI) initiatives focused on reducing month-end close cycle days and fixing transactional process gaps.
- Soft Skills Mastery: Excellent time management, meticulous attention to detail, strong self-organization, and clear verbal/written communication habits.
Key Responsibilities
Accurate Inventory & Accounts Payable Accounting
- Own Inventory Reconciliations: Direct the end-to-end monthly inventory reconciliation pipelines for all designated operational countries within the One Acre Fund portfolio.
- Resolve Open Supply Chain Items: Partner daily with Global Supply Chain and Sourcing experts to investigate, audit, and close open matching discrepancies in accounts payable.
- Accelerate Month-End Closing: Support senior financial controllers during month-end closing sequences by verifying AP entries, generating journals, and confirming ledger balances.
- Input High-Volume Accounting Inputs: Deliver consistent transactional data entry and ledger adjustments to support logistics and procurement teams across multiple operating countries.
Project Leadership & Process Improvement
- Audit Operational Workflow Gaps: Monitor regional inventory movements to flag systemic data entry friction points and propose scalable, automated ledger solutions.
- Deploy System Automations: Assist in designing, testing, and rolling out automated ERP modules and financial tools aimed at reducing the days required to close the books.
- Align Cross-Functional Goals: Lead status meetings with supply chain managers to clarify upcoming financial deadlines, compliance needs, and transaction treatments.
- Track Development Milestones: Participate in weekly manager check-ins and semi-annual performance reviews to meet personal professional targets while driving organizational growth.
