Job Summary
The Impact Storytelling and Outreach Manager builds, implements, and evaluates internal and external communication strategies for the LSFI EdTech initiative. Core daily responsibilities include managing the project’s web portals, social media, and narrative blogs; producing high-quality branded videos, motion graphics, and audio assets; writing technical case studies, research summaries, and funder updates; collaborating with learning engineers to design course visuals; and ensuring all digital materials meet global accessibility, localization, and brand guidelines.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
- Academic Preparation: A completed Bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing, Media Production, Advertising, Marketing, Journalism, Education, or a closely related field.
- Narrative Portfolio: A strong professional portfolio showing culturally relevant technical writing, human-interest features, and multi-channel outreach campaigns.
- Media Production Suite: Direct, practical skills in professional film capture, audio engineering, lighting, and video/audio post-production editing workflows.
- Graphic Design Command: Proven visual mastery spanning layout composition, color theory, typography, interface iconography, and clean information visualization.
- Regional Context: Demonstrated history navigating communication, public outreach, or educational projects within the African social or technical landscape.
- Team Dynamics: Proven comfort operating within cross-functional, multicultural, and geographically distributed academic or creative teams.
- Linguistic Precision: Flawless professional written and verbal English communication skills, with a track record of adapting tone to connect with both academic leaders and startup developers.

Multimedia Campaign Architecture

- Digital Footprint Design: Running content pipelines across standalone project web platforms, social media networks, and long-form editorial blogs.
- Accessible Media Creation: Producing high-definition video assets, detailed audio interviews, and animated motion graphics that comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Learning Engineering Support: Partnering with instructional developers to create custom graphics, podcast episodes, and multimedia assets for advanced coursework.
- Quantitative Impact Tracking: Deploying data tracking systems to evaluate campaign reach, audience click-through rates, and brand engagement metrics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Narrative Engineering & Multi-Channel Brand Strategy
- Lead editorial content strategy and execution for the LSFI project website, social media feeds, and dedicated research blogs.
- Draft, edit, and distribute branded press materials, internal newsletters, executive memos, and case studies that highlight project impact.
- Maintain strict brand alignment with CMU's global identity guidelines and partner frameworks across all digital and print layouts.
2. High-Fidelity Multimedia & Video Production
- Direct, shoot, and edit high-quality interview videos, program documentaries, and promotional featurettes highlighting regional EdTech founders.
- Design custom motion graphics, title sequences, and data visualizations to make complex learning science research easy to understand.
- Set up clear workflows for media asset management, including tracking copyright permissions and media release forms across all production steps.
3. Integrated Outreach, Events & Localization
- Build and deploy targeted outreach campaigns to promote LSFI training options, regional developer meetups, and educational webinars.
- Work closely with partner hubs, research fellows, and the Mastercard Foundation to share evidence-based reports with international funders.
- Ensure all media assets meet international accessibility requirements and local language translations across target regional markets.
4. Media Relations & Performance Analytics
- Build and maintain solid relationships with regional tech, education, and mainstream media journalists to secure consistent coverage.
- Create data dashboards to track communication metrics, checking reach, impressions, and user engagement across channels.
- Evaluate campaign performance data regularly to spot audience trends and continuously optimize future outreach initiatives.
