Candidates must present a solid business foundation paired with an accomplished professional history in upscale or luxury property operations:
- Option A: A 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Business Administration, or a closely related professional major, paired with at least 6 years of experience in hotel management operations, sales and marketing, or a related leadership area.
- Option B: A 2-year Associate Degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel Management, or a related major, paired with at least 8 years of experience in management operations, sales and marketing, or a related professional area.
Experience
Multi-Departmental Oversight & Financial Fluidity
- Executive Leadership Track: Proven experience leading major operational divisions (such as F&B, Rooms, or Front Office) within a high-capacity hotel, premium resort, or corporate hospitality hub.
- Budgeting & P&L Mastery: Strong financial background, with a proven ability to analyze financial dashboards, balance sheet data, and capital expenditure (CapEx) accounts to maximize margins without lowering service quality.
- Labor & Cost Control: Hands-on experience optimizing labor metrics using tools like Wage Progress Reports, managing headcount, and controlling variable operational expenses.
Human Resources & Relationship Management
- Talent Development: Proven experience hiring, mentoring, and developing diverse management teams, running formal annual performance appraisals, and putting clear succession plans in place.
- Strategic Communication: Exceptional presentation, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to handle complex guest issues and build trusted connections with staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Profitability & Budgetary Governance (35%)
- Drive Financial Results: Keep the operations team focused on key performance metrics to achieve target profit margins and guest satisfaction scores.
- Review Financial Reports: Analyze monthly financial statements, P&L reports, and operational balances to measure property performance against budget baselines.
- Control Operational Costs: Partner with department heads to spot financial problem areas, adjusting operational setups, labor hours, and controllable expenses early.
- Manage Labor & Wages: Track Wage Progress Reports regularly, comparing budgeted staffing hours against actual usage to keep labor costs aligned with seasonal occupancy shifts.
- Direct Capital Allocations: Guide the spending of capital expenditure (CapEx) funds to ensure structural updates match the brand's long-term service priorities.
2. Daily Property Operations & Quality Controls (25%)
- Direct Core Departments: Maintain operational oversight across the Front Office, Housekeeping, Recreation, Engineering, Security, Food & Beverage, and Event Management teams.
- Implement Brand Initiatives: Roll out global brand updates and regional business programs, checking compliance metrics and sharing clear instructions with internal teams.
- Inspect Property Grounds: Tour the hotel building, back-of-house zones, and guest public spaces regularly to check structural safety, service quality, and asset cleanliness.
- Resolve Operational Hurdle: Identify root causes of service bottlenecks or property challenges, building permanent systemic updates to prevent repeat issues.
3. Inspirational Team Leadership & Culture Transformation (20%)
- Set the Service Vision: Champion the brand’s global service vision across the entire property, keeping the leadership team focused on delivering high-quality guest experiences.
- Model Exceptional Behaviors: Participate actively in daily operational stand-up meetings, modeling target hospitality habits to encourage high employee engagement.
- Ensure Team Equity: Promote transparent, fair, and equal treatment across all departments, tracking internal sentiment to keep workplace culture healthy and productive.
4. Human Resources, Hiring & Talent Mentorship (20%)
- Hire Leadership Talent: Recruit, onboard, and develop functional experts, looking for creative, entrepreneurial leaders who match the property's business needs.
- Appraise Performance: Run structured annual performance appraisals for direct reports, detailing clear career development goals and tracking execution timelines.
- Maintain Open-Door Policies: Run an authentic "open-door" communication policy, reviewing regular employee feedback surveys to address team questions and operational issues early.
Expected Outputs & Deliverables
- Strong departmental financial statements meeting or exceeding approved P&L and quarterly margin targets.
- Successful rollout and compliance auditing of brand-level service initiatives and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Consistent gains in Guest Satisfaction Index (GSI) metrics and property service quality scores.
- Clear wage optimization plans that balance labor budgets with seasonal occupancy changes.
- Documented performance pathways, training plans, and completed annual reviews for all department heads.
