Job Summary
The Hotel Maintenance Officer executes preventive and corrective engineering workflows across all property facilities, utility networks, and guest-facing equipment. Core daily responsibilities include performing routine mechanical audits; adjusting commercial HVAC and MEP plumbing infrastructures; tracking facilities asset logs; enforcing health and safety compliance metrics; and managing specialized external service contractors during capital upgrades.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
- Academic Framework: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field of study.
- Proven Longevity: Minimum of 3 years of direct, hands-on experience managing maintenance tracks inside a high-occupancy hotel environment or a major commercial real estate development.
- Multi-Disciplinary Fluency: Comprehensive, practical working knowledge of commercial electrical distribution systems, high-volume plumbing grids, HVAC climate loops, carpentry methods, and general mechanical systems.
- Diagnostic Instincts: Elite troubleshooting and fault-isolation capabilities, with the physical stamina and agility required to navigate complex building service zones safely.
- Team Dynamics: Strong collaborative habits, excellent teamwork skills, and an adaptable approach when coordinating with front-of-house hospitality agents.
- Communication Standard: Clear verbal and written English communication capacities, enabling smooth interactions with internal hotel executives, international guests, and external service providers.
Technical Workflow Architecture
In this physical asset environment, your daily technical workflow is governed by strict structural uptime and building automation parameters:
- Preventive Maintenance Schedules: Executing systematic diagnostic checklists across guest rooms, central boilers, and backup generators to catch minor wear before it causes system downtime.
- Rapid Fault Isolation: Utilizing multi-meters, pressure gauges, and diagnostic tools to isolate complex plumbing airlocks, circuit overloads, or thermostat calibration drift within minutes of a guest alert.
- Systemic Log Auditing: Maintaining granular maintenance tracking logs to capture component lifespans, fluid pressures, electrical draw metrics, and warranty tracking points.
- HSE Guardrail Enforcement: Verifying that all chemical storage, water quality metrics, electrical insulation parameters, and fire escape paths match local safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preventive & Corrective MEP Systems Operations
- Execute rigorous preventive and corrective maintenance workflows across all hotel facilities, structural zones, and mechanical equipment arrays.
- Diagnose, repair, and optimize building distribution systems, covering complex electrical circuits, commercial plumbing lines, and high-capacity HVAC units.
- Respond with high urgency and clear focus to internal maintenance dispatches, resolving guest-room facility issues cleanly to safeguard the property's service scores.
2. Routine Inspections & Regulatory Safety Compliance
- Conduct comprehensive routine inspections across all guest wings, service basements, industrial kitchens, and structural boundaries to discover hidden wear or system leaks.
- Enforce absolute compliance with national health, building safety, and environmental protection standards, keeping all emergency generators, fire assets, and backup systems ready.
- Keep precise, scannable maintenance logs, component replacement records, and energy consumption metrics to support internal facility audits.
3. Contractor Management & Strategic Resource Coordination
- Coordinate smoothly with external engineering firms, specialized elevator mechanics, and certified municipal inspectors during major structural overhauls or system certifications.
- Define and review clear scopes of work for third-party contractors, verifying that outsourced updates match the hotel’s premium aesthetic and technical baselines.
- Track inventory levels for essential spare parts, electrical items, and plumbing fixtures, keeping backup stock aligned with routine operational needs.
