Job Summary
The Guest Experience Expert owns, coordinates, and elevates the guest lifecycle journey from arrival through departure at the Kigali Marriott Hotel. Core daily tasks include conducting warm guest welcomes, processing check-in and check-out transactions via property management software, proactively resolving guest inquiries, generating shift operational reports, and serving as a local concierge by recommending Kigali's top landmarks, restaurants, and cultural activities.
Required Foundational Education
- Academic Baseline: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Required Professional Experience & Core Traits
- Prior Experience Framework: No previous related hospitality work experience required. This is an exceptional entry-level career pathway; comprehensive, world-class luxury hospitality training will be provided to the selected candidate.
- Leadership Expectations: No previous supervisory or team management experience is required.
- Professional Presentation: Uncompromising commitment to maintaining an immaculate personal appearance, wearing the corporate uniform with pride, and upholding Marriott’s world-class grooming standards.
- Communication Eloquence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, featuring a warm, respectful tone and the ability to interact comfortably with an international guest demographic.
- Professional Discretion: Demonstrated ability to adhere strictly to corporate policies, maintain absolute guest confidentiality, and protect company assets.
Required Physical Capabilities & Stamina
- Physical Mobility: Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during a shift, maintaining high energy levels and moving dynamically across the hotel lobby and guest zones.
- Manual Handling: A hands-on approach to daily operations, with the physical ability to lift, carry, move, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 10 pounds independently without physical assistance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Experiential Guest Relations & Front Office Operations (40%)
- Welcome Global Guests: Deliver a warm, authentic welcome to arriving guests, setting a positive tone for their entire stay at the Kigali Marriott Hotel.
- Process Accurate Transactions: Handle all property operational needs, including secure check-in registrations, room assignment selections, key distributions, and check-out settlements.
- Deliver Personalized Service: Turn everyday transactions into unique, personalized experiences by listening closely to guest preferences and adapting services to match them.
- Address Guest Inquiries: Respond to and resolve guest requests, complaints, or operational feedback quickly and professionally, escalating issues to shift supervisors when appropriate.
2. Strategic Concierge & Cultural Local Guide (30%)
- Share Kigali Highlights: Act as an expert local guide, sharing insider knowledge regarding Kigali's landmarks, cultural markets, historical sites, and dining options.
- Coordinate Tour Logistics: Assist guests in arranging reliable local transportation, booking excursions, securing dinner reservations, and navigating the capital safely.
- Anticipate Hidden Needs: Read guest cues proactively to identify unspoken needs—such as celebrating an anniversary, arranging business amenities, or accommodating dietary preferences.
- Foster Memorable Stays: Surprise and delight guests by taking individual initiative to create unique moments that encourage brand loyalty and positive online reviews.
3. Operational Administration & Safety Compliance (20%)
- Generate Accurate Reports: Complete end-of-shift operational updates, high-priority guest logs, room status verifications, and financial transaction summaries.
- Enforce Safe Workplaces: Follow all corporate safety guidelines, emergency protocols, and health procedures to maintain a secure environment for guests and staff.
- Support Quality Audits: Maintain a clean, organized, and structurally flawless lobby and front desk environment in line with Marriott’s global brand audits.
- Protect Corporate Assets: Secure guest credit card profiles, room entry codes, internal financial drawers, and confidential property data with high integrity.
4. Collaborative Teamwork & Service Excellence (10%)
- Assist Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with Housekeeping, Bell Services, Food & Beverage, and Guest Relations teams to ensure smooth room readiness and seamless guest transitions.
- Champion Team Harmony: Support a positive, respectful workspace by treating all colleagues with kindness, keeping communication transparent, and stepping in to help whenever needed.
- Participate in Training: Engage actively in continuous hospitality learning programs, brand update meetings, and professional development workshops.
- Fulfill Flexible Duties: Execute other reasonable operational tasks and shift adjustments as requested by Front Office leadership to keep hotel business running smoothly.
