Job Summary

This dual-role position combines postgraduate teaching responsibilities with executive institutional leadership. As a Faculty member in the Health Professions Education (HPE) program, the incumbent designs, delivers, and reviews advanced educational modules while mentoring postgraduate scholars. As the Head of Faculty Affairs, reporting directly to the Chair of the Educational Development and Quality Center (EDQC), the individual provides strategic and operational oversight for university-wide faculty systems. This includes leading recruitment, implementing promotion frameworks, managing academic workload allocations, and constructing professional growth pathways to reinforce teaching excellence across UGHE.

Qualification

Required:

• Doctoral degree ($PhD$, $EdD$, or equivalent terminal academic degree) in Health Professions Education, Medical Education, Higher Education, or a closely related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of higher education curriculum architecture, modern student assessment designs, and national/regional academic quality assurance frameworks.
• Excellent organizational management, strategic planning, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred:

• Specialized experience teaching or managing within postgraduate health professions education or clinical training programs.
• Direct working familiarity with competency-based education, digital learning technologies, and data-informed academic quality systems.

Experience

Required:

• Demonstrated, successful experience teaching in higher education or structured professional education settings.
• Proven management experience within a Faculty Affairs office, academic administration department, or institutional faculty development center.
• A documented record of scholarly activity, educational innovation, or institutional leadership.

Preferred:

• Professional experience operating within diverse, multicultural, or resource-constrained educational environments.
• A clear track record of peer-reviewed research publications or successfully funded educational development initiatives.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

HPE Academic & Instructional Responsibilities:

• Design, facilitate, and systematically evaluate assigned modules within the Health Professions Education postgraduate program.
• Cultivate learner-centered, evidence-informed educational environments that elevate student competency.
• Supervise postgraduate student research, thesis formulations, and independent scholarly projects.
• Provide routine academic advising, structured formative assessments, and comprehensive feedback to learners.
• Serve actively on academic governance bodies, institutional program committees, and quality review boards.

Faculty Affairs Strategic Leadership:

• Provide operational leadership for the Faculty Affairs Office, defining university policies, operational procedures, and governance frameworks.
• Orchestrate end-to-end faculty lifecycles, including strategic recruitment, comprehensive onboarding orientation, and long-term retention programming.
• Formulate, coordinate, and scale faculty development workshops to improve cross-departmental pedagogical skills.
• Oversee institutional faculty performance evaluation metrics, academic ranking promotion criteria, and career progression pathways.
• Direct complex academic workload planning matrices to balance teaching, research, and service obligations across the faculty body.
• Maintain accurate, compliant, and centralized institutional faculty records in alignment with university statutes.

Scholarship & Educational Networks:

• Conduct independent or collaborative research in health professions education pedagogy or institutional faculty development.
• Publish peer-reviewed findings, speak at medical education symposiums, and advance internal educational innovations.
• Represent UGHE within global, regional, and national health professions education networks to forge collaborative partnerships.

• Deep understanding of institutional governance, policy design, and regulatory compliance in higher education.
• Mastery of modern pedagogical methods, curriculum mapping, and educational evaluation tools.

Performance Evaluation & Conditions

Performance will be evaluated annually in line with university faculty evaluation and administrative policies. Compensation and baseline deliverables are subject to standard institutional reviews at the conclusion of each academic year.
