Job Summary
The Executive Housekeeper provides strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight across all housekeeping verticals, including guest rooms, public spaces, laundry, linen, and uniform management. Key responsibilities include managing departmental budgets, tracking inventory, running detailed quality audits, training frontline staff, and working closely with maintenance teams to keep properties in peak physical condition.

- Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or a closely related service-industry discipline.
Experience
Candidates must demonstrate a track record of leadership within premium hospitality ecosystems:
Frontline Operations & Tenure Alignment
- Overall Industry Track Record: Minimum of 5 years of progressive, hands-on experience working directly within high-end housekeeping operations at a reputable, verified 4-star or 5-star hotel.
- Management Track Record: At least 2 years of experience serving in a formal Managerial, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, or Executive Housekeeper capacity directing large housekeeping divisions.
- Luxury Standards Fluency: Comprehensive understanding of international luxury service protocols, room inspection checklists, premium fabric chemistry, automated laundry machinery workflows, and modern quality assurance metrics.
System Systems & Soft Skills
- Property Management Software Literacy: Proficient in navigating contemporary hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) alongside productivity tools like Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Linguistic Versatility: Complete professional fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Working knowledge of French or Kinyarwanda is highly advantageous for navigating the local operating landscape.
- Leadership Metrics: Proven success in recruitment, staff development, and building high-performance service teams under demanding operational timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Departmental Leadership & SOP Governance (35%)
- Direct Housekeeping Logistics: Provide daily leadership and operational oversight to all sections of the housekeeping ecosystem, including guest rooms, public corridors, central laundry, linen storage, and employee uniform care.
- Engineer Standards: Build, deploy, and update comprehensive Housekeeping Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the property consistently hits brand cleanliness and hygiene metrics.
- Enforce Cleanliness Audits: Conduct strict, daily quality inspections of rooms, VIP suites, and public spaces to maintain an uncompromised standard of luxury presentation.
2. Team Mentorship & Resource Allocation (30%)
- Grow the Talent Pool: Direct recruitment, onboarding training, skills coaching, and annual performance evaluations for all housekeeping personnel.
- Schedule Intelligently: Build balanced, data-driven staff rotas and task assignments to handle shifting seasonal occupancy rates without stretching resources.
- Boost Team Morale: Lead, coach, and inspire frontline teams to maintain a sharp attention to detail and high service performance under pressure.
3. Financial Stewardship & Asset Control (25%)
- Manage Budgets: Administer the housekeeping department's operating budget, keeping a close eye on operating expenses without lowering service quality.
- Control Supplies Inventory: Oversee inventory levels for guest amenities, high-end linens, uniforms, chemical cleaning supplies, and mechanical equipment, implementing strict cost-control measures.
- Coordinate Facility Engineering: Work hand-in-hand with the Engineering and Maintenance Departments to log structural defects, schedule deep updates, and ensure rooms return to inventory quickly.
4. Cross-Functional Sync & Guest Relations (10%)
- Synchronize Front Office Workflows: Partner with Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Security teams to ensure smooth room handovers, manage VIP arrivals, and coordinate special events seamlessly.
- Resolve Guest Inquiries: Address and resolve complex guest concerns or special housekeeping requests with speed, discretion, and professional hospitality care.
- Maintain Health Compliance: Enforce total alignment with national health, sanitation, environmental guidelines, and workplace safety protocols.
Expected Outputs & Deliverables
- Fully customized, active Housekeeping Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manuals adapted to local property layouts.
- Daily, verified room inspection metrics and facility quality logs showing consistent performance against luxury benchmarks.
- Monthly departmental financial summaries, supply usage records, and inventory cost balances.
- Regular staff training logs and performance evaluation files documenting skill progression.
- Reduced turnaround times for out-of-order rooms achieved through close alignment with the maintenance team.
