Job Summary
The Employee Relations Advisor conducts internal investigations, case logs, and data entries. Core duties include interviewing witnesses across global teams; drafting objective investigation summaries; training country HR teams; updating global case files in Workday; monitoring compliance with African labor laws; and leading preventative workplace equity sessions.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Workplace Investigations & Report Architecture
- Promptly conduct independent, impartial, and exhaustive investigations into internal employee complaints, behavioral grievances, and allegations of policy violations or wrongdoing.
- Execute advanced investigative interview techniques, demonstrating immense sensitivity, active listening skills, and fairness to all participating parties.
- Formulate clear, logical, and legally defensible written investigative reports, executive summaries, and multi-country case histories.
- Track and manage the end-to-end flow of active investigations inside HRIS platforms, from initial anonymous intake channels through to final corporate disposition phases.
2. Global HR Guidance & Policy Implementation
- Spearhead the regional rollout and ongoing execution of WRI’s updated Safe, Equitable, and Inclusive Workplace policy framework.
- Provide strategic coaching and advisory support to in-country HR colleagues, building localized capacity to handle base-level grievances within their assigned territories.
- Implement executive disciplinary or corrective decisions arising from investigation findings, ensuring consistent long-term monitoring and follow-up.
- Design and deliver interactive employee training modules and educational presentations to embed WRI's core values across regional operations.
3. Risk Mitigation, Compliance & System Hygiene
- Maintain up-to-date expertise regarding multi-country labor benchmarks, statutory reporting mandates, and country-specific employment regulations across Africa.
- Enforce absolute confidentiality frameworks at every stage of the investigation and post-disposition cycle to protect employee data and organization integrity.
- Audit and maintain digital employee relations records within global HR tracking systems to ensure data accuracy meets stringent compliance standards.
- Cultivate highly collaborative relationships with team leaders and regional executives, championing an open workplace culture that drives high employee engagement.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Baseline & Experience
- Professional Tenure: A minimum of over five (5) years of direct, progressive work experience specializing in employee relations management, complex workplace complaint investigations, or human rights compliance.
- Geographic Scope: Proven history executing labor relations tasks or investigation tracks across multiple countries, preferably within an international non-profit, humanitarian agency, or global corporate ecosystem.
- Academic Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, Employment Law, Public Administration, or a matching behavioral sciences discipline (commensurate professional experience will be fully considered).
- Work Authorization Infrastructure: Applicants must possess valid, existing work authorization in their selected location (Kenya, Rwanda, or Ethiopia). WRI is strictly unable to sponsor or authorize international visa setups for this position.

- Software Stack Fluency: Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and specialized human resources information systems (prior exposure to Workday Jobs Hub frameworks is an asset).
