Job Summary
The Electronics Engineer (Qucs-S) creates, tests, and validates electronic circuit models utilizing Qucs-S and SPICE-based simulation software. Core operational tasks include identifying performance discrepancies in circuit telemetry, collaborating with senior engineers to optimize component modeling parameters, troubleshooting persistent simulator convergence and runtime errors, and generating clear technical documentation for internal review.
Key Responsibilities
1. Circuit Model Creation & Simulation Optimization (30%)
- Build Simulation Models: Assist in constructing, testing, and verifying complex electronic circuit models inside the Qucs-S ecosystem, ensuring absolute functional alignment with target design parameters.
- Refine Modeling Parameters: Partner closely with senior engineering leads to adjust component tolerances, define signal sources, and optimize simulation criteria to maximize model accuracy.
- Support Schematic Capture: Interface with engineering layouts to accurately translate physical wiring diagrams and structural hardware printouts into active digital schematics.
2. Analytical Data Interpretation & Discrepancy Isolation (25%)
- Analyze Telemetry Outputs: Evaluate data generated during transient, AC/DC, and S-parameter simulation passes to verify operational stability.
- Isolate Behavioral Variations: Spot, track, and log variations between theoretical circuit behaviors and actual digital simulation waveform behaviors.
- Validate Component Playbooks: Review active and passive component behaviors under varying simulated thermal and voltage stress profiles to ensure safe operating envelopes.
3. Simulation Troubleshooting & Workflow Debugging (25%)
- Debug Simulator Engine Errors: Diagnose, isolate, and resolve persistent simulation convergence loops, Netlist syntax errors, and timeline matrix faults inside the Qucs-S engine.
- Deploy Corrective Workflows: Formulate and propose rapid code or structural schema corrections to maintain maximum processing speeds across team development pipelines.
- Audit External Netlists: Review and clean SPICE-based code blocks imported from secondary software environments to eliminate structural layout conflicts.
4. Technical Documentation & Quality Assurance (20%)
- Generate Test Reports: Draft comprehensive internal technical documentation capturing exact simulation setups, test metrics, and verification steps.
- Maintain Version Control: Organize and archive simulation files, test configurations, and model definitions in shared code repositories.
- Share Inter-Departmental Insights: Participate actively in project sprint reviews, sharing analytical insights, model failures, and system improvements to boost team knowledge.
Experience & Competencies

Academic & Technical Tooling Requirements
- Core Software Familiarity: Direct hands-on experience utilizing Qucs-S or closely matching circuit simulation platforms (e.g., Qucs, LTspice, PSpice, Ngspice, or similar SPICE-based modeling tools).
- Fundamental Engineering Knowledge: A rock-solid understanding of fundamental electronic circuit principles, including the behavioral physics of both passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors) and active components (diodes, transistors, operational amplifiers).
- Data Visualization Literacy: A proven ability to interpret complex engineering graphs, Smith charts, waveform plots, and raw diagnostic output files.
Preferred Technical Assets
- PCB Layout Acumen: Practical exposure to printed circuit board (PCB) design programs or specialized schematic capture platforms (e.g., KiCad, Altium Designer, Eagle).
- Documentation Precision: Exceptional attention to technical detail, with a demonstrated capability to produce clear, unambiguous technical whitepapers and engineering summaries.
- Independent Problem Solving: A self-starting behavioral mindset that can autonomously troubleshoot mathematical calculation errors inside simulation engines under tight project deadlines.
