Job Summary
The Data Engineering Instructor will support both the Training Centre and Service Centre by delivering high-quality technical training, mentoring trainees, and contributing to the development of skilled data engineering professionals.
The role is part of the AmaliTech Apprenticeship Program (AAP), which prepares learners for real-world industry roles through structured, hands-on learning experiences.
The instructor will focus on the Data Engineering track, ensuring trainees gain practical skills aligned with global industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical training and mentorship in Data Engineering, including Python, SQL, Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and modern data engineering systems.
- Guide trainees in building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-based data solutions using AWS and Microsoft Fabric.
- Support learners in business intelligence and data visualization using Power BI, including dashboards, DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
- Assess and evaluate trainee assignments, projects, and exams to ensure competency and industry readiness.
- Mentor trainees on data governance, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub workflows, Delta Lake, and lakehouse architecture concepts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve curriculum design, training materials, and learning outcomes.
- Promote a practical, project-based learning environment that encourages innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or related fields.
- Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, PySpark) and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, and Apache Kafka.
- Experience with AWS data services including S3, Glue, Redshift, Kinesis, Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and Athena.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI including dashboards, DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric including Lakehouse, Data Factory, Spark Notebooks, and OneLake.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, schema design, lakehouse architecture, CDC, and data governance.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions for data workflows.
- Previous teaching, mentoring, or training experience is an advantage.
Nice to Have
- AWS certifications (e.g., Data Engineer Associate, Solutions Architect).
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-300, DP-700).
- Exposure to Data Science or Machine Learning concepts such as scikit-learn and model evaluation.
