Compliance Officer

Job Summary

The Compliance Officer oversees offshore iGaming and crypto casino compliance routines for a remote Web3 startup. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this law graduate manages regulatory reporting, updates internal compliance policies, maintains offshore licenses, and utilizes Jira/Confluence to track compliance workflows.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. Offshore Licensing & Regulatory Operations

• Offshore Navigation: Manage compliance strategy and ongoing maintenance for offshore and unregulated iGaming licenses (e.g., Curaçao, Anjouan, Tobique, or similar jurisdictions).
• Regulatory Reporting: Execute day-to-day regulatory filings, statutory reporting, and administrative compliance submissions to licensing bodies.
• Policy Maintenance: Review, update, and strengthen internal compliance policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational guidelines to align with evolving offshore legal standards.

2. Crypto & iGaming Risk Monitoring

• Routine Monitoring: Oversee daily compliance monitoring routines, verifying that player onboarding, transaction patterns, and gaming operations comply with internal risk parameters.
• Crypto Integration: Monitor compliance issues unique to crypto-enabled casinos, including wallet verification, crypto AML/KYC checks, and blockchain transaction tracking.
• Workflow Management: Utilize Jira and Confluence to track compliance tickets, document regulatory updates, and maintain centralized audit trails for the legal team.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Educational Baseline: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B, BA in Law, or equivalent legal qualification).
• iGaming Background: Proven professional track record working within the online gaming (iGaming) industry.
• Offshore License Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience managing compliance under offshore or unregulated gaming licenses.
• Agile Tool Mastery: Operational proficiency using Jira and Confluence for task tracking, documentation, and compliance workflow management.

Preferred Qualifications & Desirable Capabilities

• Direct experience or strong exposure to Crypto Casinos, Web3 gaming products, decentralized finance (DeFi), or cryptocurrency transaction monitoring.
• Working knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), and Know-Your-Customer (KYC) frameworks within crypto environments.
