Job Summary
The Communications & Advocacy Manager leads communications, advocacy, and content-marketing activities for EOF’s global programs and institutional initiatives. Core responsibilities include developing country-specific program communication plans, leading high-profile international events (such as the UN General Assembly), steering thought leadership narratives to support fundraising, and managing EOF’s digital and multimedia channels.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Programmatic Communication Planning
- Collaborate closely with EOF Program Managers and Country Leads to design and execute tailored communication strategies for specific national programs.
- Support localized program teams to ensure high-quality, aligned messaging and the timely production of content for stakeholders, donors, and host governments.
- Ensure all programmatic communications align seamlessly with EOF’s broader institutional objectives, brand guidelines, and global narratives.
2. High-Impact Event & Advocacy Leadership
- Lead the strategic planning, coordination, and production of flagship communications and advocacy events (e.g., UNGA side events, virtual panels, and international hybrid conferences).
- Proactively secure high-profile external speaking opportunities for EOF leadership to elevate the fund's profile and advance strategic partnership goals.
- Maintain and optimize EOF’s global events calendar, ensuring high-impact representation at key global development and education financing summits.
3. Thought Leadership & Partnership Support
- Create, write, and edit thought leadership materials—including op-eds, articles, blogs, executive speeches, reports, and case studies—focused on innovative finance and education systems change.
- Collaborate with the Partnerships and Fundraising teams to develop dedicated communication streams, pitch materials, and donor-engagement campaigns that support EOF’s capitalization targets.
4. Integrated Content Production & Digital Channels
- Manage EOF’s integrated content marketing machine, coordinating the design and creation of written, visual, and multimedia assets (copywriting, infographics, photography, video, and animation).
- Curate and maintain the organizational editorial calendar to maximize campaign reach and audience engagement.
- Oversee EOF’s social media channels, leading on platform optimization, audience growth strategies, daily community management, and monthly performance analysis.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Profile & Academic Track
- Academic Foundation:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, or a closely related field.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is considered a highly valuable asset and reduces the required years of professional experience.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience in communications and advocacy with a Bachelor's degree; OR
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
- Strategic Communications: Demonstrated experience in creating, implementing, and managing complex international communications and advocacy campaigns.
- Language Command: Fluent, professional written and verbal English is required.
Desired Technical Attributes & Competencies
- Sector Knowledge: Prior communications experience in primary education, early childhood care, or employment-skills training.
- Specialized Finance Exposure: Experience communicating complex concepts in innovative finance, results-based financing, or impact investing.
- Multilateral Context: Experience working within international development, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), or the United Nations system.
- Language Diversity: Professional fluency in French, Spanish, or Arabic is highly desirable.
- Software & Digital Skills: Proficiency in modern CMS platforms, social media analytics tools, and multimedia design programs.
