Job Summary
The Business Development Executive identifies, builds, and closes revenue opportunities across both the insurance and cultural souvenir verticals in Rwanda. Core daily responsibilities include pitching insurance policies to corporate entities and SMEs; building commercial partnerships with events, hotels, and retail buyers for cultural souvenirs; designing custom business proposals and pricing quotes; and monitoring sales pipelines to exceed monthly target structures.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
- Academic Framework: Diploma or University Degree in Business Development, Marketing, Sales, Insurance Management, or a closely matching corporate discipline.
- Experience Footprint: Minimum of 2 years of verified professional experience in a direct sales, business development, or institutional account management capacity.
- Vertical Advantage: Prior experience navigating insurance sales, policy brokerage, or financial services distribution is highly preferred and will be treated as a major competitive advantage.
- Commercial Tenacity: A clear, proven ability to independently close high-value deals, manage client objections, and consistently hit or exceed sales target metrics within a commission-weighted framework.
- Communication Command: Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and contract negotiation skills, with the ability to confidently present business pitches to senior executives.
- Self-Governance: Highly self-motivated, creative, and resourceful approach, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and operate effectively within a fast-paced market environment.
- Geographic Mandate: Applications are strictly invited from candidates currently residing and legally authorized to work within Rwanda.
Technical Workflow Architecture
In this role, your weekly sales cadence links field-level execution with structured pipeline management:
- Lead Generation & Account Mapping: Identifying and qualifying potential corporate accounts, split between businesses needing group insurance policies and institutions sourcing high-end local souvenirs for upcoming events.
- Proposal Engineering & Costing: Drafting custom business proposals and formal cost quotations, ensuring pricing balances market competitiveness with healthy profit margins.
- Field Networking & Presentation: Attending regional trade exhibitions, hospitality networks, and corporate events across Kigali and wider Rwanda to build corporate relationships.
- Pipeline Analysis & Forecasting: Tracking your sales funnel metrics using standard pipeline frameworks to ensure clear visibility on conversion rates and target delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dual-Vertical Market Expansion & Client Acquisition
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new commercial accounts across Rwanda within both the insurance distribution and premium cultural souvenir segments.
- Build and execute aggressive sales campaigns to pitch and close insurance products to individuals, SMEs, corporate accounts, and cooperative associations.
- Market, position, and sell curated cultural souvenirs to corporate clients, diplomatic missions, hospitality networks, large-scale events, and established retail partners.
2. Relationship Management & Proposal Engineering
- Establish, nurture, and preserve strong, long-term relationships with institutional buyers, procurement officers, and corporate decision-makers.
- Conduct continuous local market research to stay ahead of industry trends, shifting customer preferences, and new revenue channels.
- Structure, draft, and present professional business proposals, commercial quotations, and high-impact sales pitches tailored to client requirements.
3. Target Governance & Performance Tracking
- Consistently meet and exceed established monthly and quarterly sales quotas, performance goals, and pipeline development metrics.
- Represent the organization proactively at regional networking events, corporate exhibitions, and promotional business activities to build brand presence.
- Maintain, update, and submit regular sales activity logs, clear pipeline forecasts, and performance reports to corporate management.
