Job Summary
The Billing Platform Product Manager shapes and executes the billing strategy for Remote's global HR platform. This PM leads cross-functional pods, builds AI-assisted code prototypes, optimizes end-to-end invoicing workflows, aligns FinTech product metrics with core company KPIs, and operates asynchronously across distributed EMEA teams.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Billing Platform Strategy & End-to-End Ownership
- FinTech Roadmap Ownership: Define and execute the near- and mid-term product strategy for Remote’s billing, invoicing, and payment processing infrastructure.
- Human-Software Integration: Own the holistic user journey, recognizing that Remote delivers value through automated software powered by operational service teams.
- Autonomous Problem Solving: Lead complex FinTech initiatives independently, reframing ambiguous operational challenges into clear product roadmaps.
2. Hands-On AI Prototyping & Technical Execution
- AI-First Code Delivery: Utilize AI development environments (Cursor, Claude Code) to build, test, debug, and deploy small code updates and functional prototypes without relying exclusively on engineering sprints.
- Cross-Functional Sprint Leadership: Partner directly with engineers, UI/UX designers, and business operations to ship high-ROI software iterations quickly.
- Data & KPI Alignment: Align product delivery with enterprise KPIs, tracking billing precision, platform throughput, and customer satisfaction metrics.
3. Asynchronous Communication & Stakeholder Alignment
- Transparent Communication: Document product requirements, architectural decisions, and tactical updates transparently across asynchronous channels.
- Cross-Departmental Synergy: Collaborate with Finance, RevOps, Sales, and Legal teams to ensure billing features fulfill multi-jurisdictional compliance requirements.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Profile & Qualifications
- Product Domain Experience: Proven experience as a Product Manager in billing, invoicing, payments, or FinTech systems (preferably in a high-growth SaaS scale-up).
- Mandatory AI Coding Tooling Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on ability to use AI development tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or similar environments. Candidates must be able to autonomously build and debug code, not just write text PRDs.
- Prioritization & Scope Judgment: Exceptional strategic decision-making in feature prioritization and scope management.
- Communication & Async Skills: Outstanding written and spoken English, with proven capability to thrive in fully asynchronous, remote environments.
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience working within a distributed, remote-first global organization.
- Deep knowledge of international payment rails, multi-currency invoicing, and tax compliance logic.
What Remote Offers
- Async Flexibility: Plan your work schedule around your life with flexible working hours and unlimited PTO.
- Compensation & Equity: Above-market local base pay ($62.4k–$140.4k USD band) + stock option grants.
- Comprehensive Benefits: 16 weeks paid parental leave, home office and IT equipment budget, learning budget, mental health services, and co-working/social event allowances.
Skills Required:
