Job Summary
The Aircraft Technician B1 executes, manages, and certifies scheduled line and base maintenance, complex structural repairs, and mechanical system troubleshooting across commercial aircraft fleets. Core daily tasks include tracking airframe checks according to strict scheduled intervals, analyzing complex digital engineering wiring diagrams, replacing power plant components, generating regulatory logbook documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional flight operations departments to quickly resolve Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events.
Required Licensing & Type Rating Foundations
- Regulatory License: Must hold a currently valid EASA Part-66 B1 (or equivalent globally recognized civil aviation authority) Aircraft Maintenance License.
- Fleet Endorsement: Must possess an active, documented Type Rating on the Airbus A330 platform, with proven currency on type.
- Professional Tenure: Minimum of 3+ years of progressive professional experience operating directly within an active commercial aviation Line or Base Maintenance hangar environment.
- Linguistic Command: Fluent professional proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) to accurately parse complex technical manuals, author legal release documentation, and coordinate with international flight crews.
Core Technical Aptitudes & Operational Mindset
- Engineering Literacy: Advanced structural capability to read, interpret, and apply technical information extracted from Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), and complex engineering diagrams.
- System Troubleshooting: Deep diagnostic knowledge of wide-body mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and landing gear systems, enabling rapid root-cause isolation during tight transit windows.
- Flexible Shift Adaptability: Absolute operational willingness to support irregular shift patterns, night operations, and emergency weekend call-outs to resolve urgent critical maintenance demands.
Preferred Technical Assets & Cross-Platform Experience
- Multi-Type Expansion: Secondary type ratings or practical field experience working across alternative commercial platforms, specifically Boeing fleets (737/787) or complementary Airbus lines (A320/A350).
- MRO Software Savvy: Familiarity utilizing modern digital aviation maintenance, repair, and inventory tracking software ecosystems (such as AMOS, Maintenix, or SAP Aviation).
- Safety Management System (SMS) Literacy: A highly developed, proactive understanding of human factors in aviation safety, root-cause hazard analysis, and workplace tool calibration management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Airframe System Execution, Troubleshooting & Line Maintenance (40%)
- Execute Line Maintenance Tasks: Perform pre-flight, daily, weekly, and transit checks on arriving aircraft, guaranteeing full system integrity before clearing flights for takeoff.
- Troubleshoot Mechanical Faults: Diagnose irregular mechanical, pneumatic, thermal, or fluid-flow anomalies on the Airbus A330, applying structural manuals to isolate and fix root issues quickly.
- Address AOG Failures: Lead urgent troubleshooting actions during critical Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations, minimizing flight delays while upholding absolute safety standards.
- Run Pre-Flight Defect Resolution: Coordinate closely with flight crews to review in-flight cockpit alerts, executing real-time fixes or applying Minimum Equipment List (MEL) parameters correctly.
2. Structural Checks, Component Overhauls & Base Maintenance (30%)
- Perform Scheduled Checks: Execute deep-level scheduled base maintenance checks, removing, inspecting, and overhauling core airframe components according to the structural timeline.
- Inspect Structural Elements: Conduct visual and non-destructive spot inspections across skin sheets, flight controls, doors, and engine cowlings to detect fatigue, corrosion, or impact damage.
- Manage System Replacements: Oversee the safe removal and installation of complex mechanical assemblies, including landing gear components, hydraulic pumps, and environmental control valves.
- Calibrate Tooling Assemblies: Ensure all specialized diagnostic tools, torque wrenches, and testing rigs are fully calibrated and logged before performing airframe adjustments.
3. Regulatory Data Compliance, Logbook Verification & Auditing (20%)
- Complete Certifying Logs: Generate precise, legally binding maintenance logs, sign-offs, and compliance records matching all executed tasks in strict accordance with Part-145 regulations.
- Interpret Technical Blueprints: Read, interpret, and cross-reference blueprints, modification bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives (AD) to verify structural compliance.
- Audit Material Traceability: Validate that all incoming replacement parts, seals, and fluids possess clean, verifiable documentation certificates (such as EASA Form 1) before installation.
- Maintain Station Standards: Organize and clean local line-station tool environments, ensuring absolute foreign object debris (FOD) prevention across hangars and tarmacs.
4. Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Operations Alignment (10%)
- Sync with Operations Teams: Coordinate daily work pipelines with regional logistics, parts sourcing, and base management teams to minimize turnaround friction.
- Mentor Junior Technicians: Provide technical advice and safety guidance to un-rated mechanics or local support staff, instilling clean aviation maintenance practices across the station.
