Experience

Candidates must demonstrate an active personal track record of youth leadership and volunteer engagement:

  • Affiliation Track: Must be a former member or active alumnus of an established Child Rights Club, Children’s Grassroots Group, Child Advisory Board (CAB), or the National Children’s Committee.
  • Peer-to-Peer Mentorship: Proven comfort or basic experience leading, training, or motivating fellow young people within community or school-based environments.
  • Communication & Cultural Agility: Highly developed interpersonal skills, characterized by strong cultural awareness and an ability to collaborate safely with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

Field Research Coordination & Data Validation

  • Support Peer Researchers: Coordinate and support peer child researchers as they collect, archive, and analyze qualitative data regarding barriers to meaningful child participation across Rwanda and Burundi.
  • Partner with MEAL Cells: Work directly with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) unit to execute data validation, ensure quality control, and interpret field findings correctly.
  • Draft Activity Documentation: Assist in writing clear, accurate, and timely reports tracking the updates, achievements, and structural challenges of the Catalytic Fund initiatives.

Youth Mentorship & Capacity Building

  • Train Community Youth: Mentor and train young people in standard child campaigning methodologies, participatory action principles, and evidence-gathering techniques.
  • Facilitate Consultations: Coordinate and lead child consultation panels, capturing children's authentic voices and testimonies ahead of high-level policy hearings and public advocacy events.
  • Organize Local Workshops: Lead pre- and post-activity focus group discussions with youth team members operating within local schools and community networks.

Safeguarding Enforcement & Risk Tracking

  • Enforce Safeguarding Standards: Maintain a zero-tolerance culture for risks, ensuring that every adult and child engaged in campaigns is completely protected and safeguarded according to SCI policies.
  • Document Lessons Learned: Capture, package, and share field observations and institutional best practices to strengthen future evidence-based youth programming.
  • Drive Creative Innovation: Propose and launch creative, youth-driven ideas to amplify marginalized children's voices and spread child-led research across digital and physical spaces.
